Maria | 12 comments Just wanted to know what everyone is planning on reading. I am looking for a buddy for the buddy read book. I have quite a few options for book choices
1Q84
American Gods
Outlander
The Name of the Wind
Grave Mercy
Winter (I know... no judgement, I keep putting it off)
Nightfilm
Replica
The Bronze Horseman
The Gentlemen's Guide to Vice and Virtue
Our Dark Duet
All the Light We Cannot See
The Golem and the Jinni
The Kingdom of Little Wounds
And the last two books in the Heroes of Olympus series
Let me know if any of these interest you and you would like to buddy read with me, I am open to any of them.

BoydGirl | 6 comments The only one I’m certain of reading is “Lady Midnight”. I’m about halfway through & I want to use this to push me to finish it.

I want to read one other, or at least make a good dent. I have a short list of contenders.

The Sword of Shannara
The Evolution of Mara Dyer
Beautiful Darkness
Replica
The Lost Symbol
The Runaway Jury

I actually do have The Sword of Shannara as well so, we have that and Replica in common. I am good with either one if you choose to read them.

Ok. I think Replica might be better for a readathon, though. I've kind of started "The Sword of Shannara" and it's *very* descriptive. I actually have the annotated edition and the author admits in one that he spent a bit too much time on descriptions, and has dialed it back with later books.

Ok great Replica it is. I will add it to my TBR. Looking forward to it

Jessamy Horncastle | 5 comments I've never done a buddy read before, is it just 2 people or groups that read the same books? I would also need a buddy. I have tons of tbr's on my shelf that would count so I'm probably pretty open to what someone else wants to read.

A buddy read can be a group of people or it can be just you and another person. If you have Replica on your TBR you are more than welcome to join Mary and I. I have also decided to read All the Light We Cannot See (for my adult book). I am listening to that as an audiobook so I can fit in another physical book if you can't find a buddy and need one. Just have a look at the books I listed and tell me if one of those works for you.

message 8: by Anastasia (new)

Anastasia (booksteainsanity) I never even considered ALL THE LIGHT WE CANNOT SEE! Would you be willing to buddy-read that with me, as well? I might be buddy-reading GoT with someone, but the more, the merrier! :)

sure I would love to buddy read that with you! I agree the more the merrier.

message 10: by Anastasia (new)

Anastasia (booksteainsanity) Yaaaay! Were you thinking of reading a certain number of chapters per week, or did you just want to check in with each other throughout the readathon to see where the other person is at in the book? I’ve never buddy-read before, and I know some people really like to pace themselves, but I’m good either way.

Maria | 12 comments Anastasia wrote: "Yaaaay! Were you thinking of reading a certain number of chapters per week, or did you just want to check in with each other throughout the readathon to see where the other person is at in the book..."

We could probably just check in occasionally. I am going to be listening to the audiobook for it, and I will try to set myself some goals. The audiobook itself is just over 16 hours, and I usually listen at 1.25 speed (which means that cuts listening time down to almost 13 hours). I would say just maybe try for a couple of chapters a day, and if life gets hectic we will figure it out.

Nora Eliana | Papertea & Bookflowers (noraeliana) | 5 comments I'm also looking for a Buddy. Anyone reading Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell? Or maybe The Name of the wind? (Though I'm not sure if I would get through either of those because I unfortunately don't have that much time ... prime exam season)

I have a buddy read going for The Name of the Wind going with someone if you would like to join in. I wouldn't worry too much about getting it all read. I have myself in several buddy reads as I like to have several books going at once and if it turns out that you don't have a chance to finish, you did the best you could and you can always continue with it after the readathon ends.

message 46: by Patrick (new)

Patrick | 5 comments Hello.
This is my first ever time doing this readathon and I'm very excited to finally take part! I have so far three books on my tbr:
Blankets by Craig Thompson
Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare (reread)

I am at uni at the moment so I don't know if I'll be able to get to all of these during the readathon. I don't have anything for the buddy read so if you'd like, message me and maybe we can arrange something. Good luck to everyone who's participating and hope you all have a fun time! 😊
