Jessica Hilton | 3 comments Hello everyone! As a Sherlock Holmes/Conan Doyle enthusiast, I would love to read any of your fan-fictions featuring the great detective and sidekick. Along the same lines, I am looking for some constructive positive and negative critique of a fan-fiction that I am reviewing for revisions. I have uploaded the first chapter of "Watson's Obituary" onto my page, and am hoping to get some helpful feedback. I would appreciate any help you could give me!

J. Rubino (jrubino) I've read the first chapter, and I think the dialogue between Holmes and Watson sounds authentic. The only critique I would have is in Lestrade's letter. Lestrade would not refer to Watson by his Christian name. Gentlemen who were friends normally addressed each other by their surnames - note in the Canon that Watson says "Holmes", not "Sherlock" and Holmes says "Watson", not "John." In professional relationships, it was "preface or title/surname' - So Lestrade would have said "Doctor Watson" and called Holmes "Mr. Holmes."
Christian names were for very intimate acquaintances and family (note that Mycroft does call Holmes "Sherlock.")

S. Daisy | 2 comments I have three Sherlockian stories that I would greatly appreciate getting some feedback on, if anybody would be so kind as to read any of them. I have posted about them before, hoping for feedback, and have not seemed to gather any interest. I have tried to remain as true to Doyle as possible, writing in 1800's British English (a new for me) and making several subtle and not-so-subtle nods to Doyle's stories. How many can you catch? What do you think? Should the series be continued and published? What do you like or dislike about the stories and my characters?
