Melissa (virusq) My favorites in the new canon are Inferno Squad (you've got that), Phasma (Mad Max meets Star Wars), Lost Stars (Romeo and Juliet with pilots), and From A Certain Point of View (short stories from background characters in A New Hope).

Melissa (virusq) I just finished Leia Princess of Alderaan. It was a little slow for me but I absolutely loved the worldbuilding elements and cameoes.

The next novels on my radar are Cobalt Squadron and Canto Blight.

Ross Hey guys, just joined the group and this is my first post. I’m currently trying to read Legends or the EU in chronological ledger hitting the novels. Currently on Red Harvest so I got a long way to go.

Does anyone foresee any issues I may run across or is this an okay way to read them?

Sarah Kauthen (skauthen) | 10 comments That’s the way I’m going about it. I’m just prepared for some book’s facts contradicting other facts since Disney has taken over the franchise. Though I would suggest weaving in the comics. The Dark Horse website has a Star Wars timeline.

EDIT - Can't find the old Dark Horse timeline but found this wiki:

Melissa (virusq) You can certainly read the legends content chronologically, as everything that is going to be contributed to it is already done and printed. I'm not sure if it will be a "good" way to do it, since the content bounces around quite a bit and they tried to hit different interests with different authors. Red Harvest is a prequel to a book much later in the series, (and one of two horror novels written, iirc?), so anything written about in those books are going to be "forgotten" by the rest of the content. Basically, the books weren't written chronologically, so I'm not convinced they'll read chronologically.

One of the tragedies of legends content was that the lorekeepers had too much to catalog -- so you'll end up with characters being completely rewritten by each author, or characters in two places at once, or weird lapses in technology. Some of the newer entries into to Legends really tried to pull all of those fringe pieces together and justify them but you're still left with some gaps in the material.

Give it a shot. Don't be afraid to skip something that just isn't grabbing you. And if a book really grabs you, make a note of the theme, characters, and author involved so you know what to look out for in future entries.

Becky | 6 comments Mod
Maybe read dark nest and then fate of the Jedi and legacy of the force.

Allyssa Smith | 4 comments After FoTJ, try Mercy Kill. You don’t have to read NJO, DK Nest and LoTF, you just need an basic understanding of them.
