Lets Talk YA Fantasy; this is one of my favourite genres to read, there are so many YA Fantasy books out there I'v read and so many more to discover. Books with magic, supernatural creatures, great world-building and In-depth characters are a magical place to be. There is so much that can happen in a fantasy book; things that go against logic, whole new worlds created to explore. Its like magic!

My favourite YA Fantasy books include: Harry Potter, The Throne of Glass Series and ACOTAR Series by Sarah J Maas, The Twilight Saga, The Shiver Trilogy and The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater,

What do you like about the YA Fantasy Genre and what YA Fantasy Books/Series do you like?

Kai Raine | 19 comments I think I tend toward YA fantasy because I like it when my fantasy is more character-based than plot-based. Obviously there are adult fantasies that do this and do it well (like A Song of Ice and Fire), but overall I find that YA is a surer bet in that regard.

At the moment, I recommend Libba Bray's The Diviners series. It's set in the 1920s and has a wide cast of characters that are all very well developed.

Richelle Goodrich (richelleegoodrich) I love YA fantasy for a number of reasons. One being that my kids can pick up any YA book I’m reading and I don’t worry about it. Secondly, I’ve found YA books to be far more inventive with characters, plots, and the development of entirely new worlds. Thirdly, I like the youthful adventures and the challenges age must overcome. I think younger characters are just plain more fun and daring.
