The Harry Potter Series is a huge fandom with a whole lot of books and movies. Here you can talk away about everything and anything Harry Potter. Which are you favourite books/movies, favourite characters, what you like or don't like about it. Wands at the ready...

Kai Raine | 19 comments Hard to pick a favorite book. I love the whimsy of The Philosopher's Stone. I love the structure (i.e. the many subplots that converge in the end) of The Chamber of Secrets. I love the break in the pattern that The Prisoner of Azkaban was. I loved how the public goodwill leaves Harry's side in The Goblet of Fire, and the dark downward spiral of The Order of the Phoenix, lit with unyielding humor. I loved the depth presented in The Halfblood Prince, and the way that was furthered in The Deathly Hallows.

I think the whole series is brilliant. Rowling is a genius at mystery writing, and adding whimsy and humor with a dash of epic plot was just...beyond brilliant.

The thing I don't like about the series is the way they were over-planned, and the way they wanted readers to know beyond a shadow of a doubt who ended up with whom and how many offspring they had.

Most of my complaints come back to the disappointing epilogue in The Deathly Hallows. How has Hermione not taken over the world? How is it that all of the main 4 never grow out of their 11-year-old crush? How is it that none of these people are showing any signs of deep, irreversible psychological trauma?
