We are a friendly group, all here because we enjoy reading Georgette Heyer’s work. There are no requirements to participate in group reads or to make regular posts, but please feel free to comment.
Please treat other members courteously, as though you were a guest in their home. Our group goal when discussing books is to share opinions and observations. All opinions are important.
Disagreements are a part of the forum experience, and we all enjoy reading threads with opposing opinions, but any differences must be addressed with respect. When everyone speaks respectfully, the group remains inviting for all kinds of opinions and views. This is a friendly discussion group, not a debating society.
To promote a welcoming environment, we would like to outline some new practices intended to enable a pleasant group experience.
1. If we find that someone is being rude or disrespectful, a moderator will first address the person privately about the matter. Our intent is to clarify expectations regarding group civility.
2. If unacceptable behavior persists after a private caution, a moderator will issue a public warning.
3. If unacceptable behavior persists after the private caution and public warning, the member will be removed from the group.
Please follow moderator directions. If you disagree with something a moderator has said or done, start a thread in the General folder and we can discuss it. If you see something in a book thread that you think a moderator should know about, please send a private message to a moderator.
We are lucky as a group to have members with lots of different political viewpoints, so in the interest of keeping things pleasant, please avoid discussing modern politics in any of the threads.
Our aim is to enable a pleasant, welcoming, inclusive environment where all members can discuss Georgette Heyer’s work, express opinions, and enjoy each other’s company.
Group Reads Folder and Spoiler Reminder
Some threads in the Book folder may contain open spoilers. Usually group reads have three threads. Please put all spoilers in the spoiler thread or use the spoiler tags. We don't want to spoil a first read for anyone! :) If you want to discuss a different Heyer book or a book by another author in a group read, please use the spoiler tags. Again this is because we don't want to spoil other members' reads.
Writing something like “Warning; spoilers ahead" is not an acceptable spoiler alert. If you are uncertain whether something is a spoiler or not, err on the side of caution.
To mark a spoiler using HTML:
[spoiler] place text here [/spoiler]
Replace [ ] with < >
Also to keep in mind - be attentive to the risks of offers for free books or suggested transactions involving money; these are not endorsed or guaranteed, and are all done at your own risk.
