Do you think the Evergreen book(s) you read should have been nominated?

What about The Painted Girls makes it feel like a potential award winner to you?

Christine (cmnb) | 54 comments Looking at the criteria to be nominated, it meets 1, 3, and definitely 4 (I researched the material afterward because I was interested in the accuracy of it. #2 is N/A. I'm not sure it meets the criteria of #5. Though it has a strong feminine narrative, the minor male characters impact the story in a major way. But the location is 1800's urban Paris seen through the eyes of the desperately poor. There is little variation in that so it probably would not be considered balanced in that sense.
