Beth | 6 comments Any recommendations for books with heroines similar to Nora Roberts' characters? I'm thinking of the women she depicts who are confident, independent, experts in their field and/or entrepreneurial. Beverly Jenkins comes close, especially with the "Blessings" series.

Also, no books that are described as "heartbreaking". Looking for a little escapism, please!
Thank you!

Gail Jayne Ann Krentz comes to mind. Personal favorites include Flash, All Night Long & Perfect Partners.

ReadKnitHoard | 3 comments Check out Julie James, her heroines really own their competence. :)

Barb in Maryland | 1 comments Well, I dithered about replying and both my suggestions have been named. Krentz has been writing as long as Nora has and is one of my few 'must read' authors. Julie James is newer to the scene, but I just love her heroines--smart, confident, competent to the max. She is also on my 'must read' list.
Sorry I can't come up with another name to add to the discussion...

Beth | 6 comments I have not heard of Julie James, so 2 recs for her say a lot. Thanks!

ReadKnitHoard | 3 comments I recommend you check out Kelly Hunter. I just read Flirting With Intent, and IIRC, her other heroines are also of the competent, confident variety.
