Classic Trash discussion

Was this a childhood favorite movie of yours? I haven't seen the film in many years.

I just got this from my library, so I will be starting it today.

I have not read this book in many years! Hoping it's fun!

I almost decided not to read this book, thinking it would be a sappy, overly sweet children's book. Was I wrong! In fact, it's probably too intense for younger children. I'm up to page 33 and was quite moved by Perdita's story. (I don't think she was in the Disney film, was she?) This book can be enjoyed by both children and adults. I'm SO glad I decided to read it.

I am enjoying this, but it's funny how hard Smith works to keep reaffirming that Pongo is not in a polygamous relationship.

Well, it was written in the 1950s, and the author probably didn't want parents to ban the book because it was "immoral" or something like that. She also very much emphasized the marriages of the dogs who had puppies. Perdita had a very quick "marriage," when telling her part of the story.

I like how all the animals have military ranks. My cat definitely would have been conscientious objector. Especially if the animal army required effort.

And the rank of each animal increases with every successful "military campaign".
