Question of the Day - December 2017

Pretty much, but I always seem to find things throughout December while doing other shopping. I do still have 2 nephews to buy for and some cards to send out.

I'm usually done by now, because I have to ship to another state. But my nieces and nephew are increasingly slow to get me any sort of list, so..."
Barely started.

Mostly. Have to get a few things for my husband but things for kiddo and my mother are done!

Read. Go for a walk. Play Candy Crush.

Read or binge watch something on Netflix. I depends on if someone else is home or I'm alone. I don't get the TV when the kids or spouse are home.

I have to agree with BC: 65-70 F
Dec 5 - What's your best remedy for a cold?
I'm currently living on hot tea w/ honey, cough lozenges, and orange juice ... with a little chicken soup and crackers now and then.
But I have always maintained that the only sure-fire cure for a cold is chocolate ice cream - 1 scoop per day, and in 7 to 10 days your cold will be gone. Works every time!

I like the tea with honey remedy and OJ every morning. I'll have to try the chocolate ice cream remedy.

We just decorate some inside the house. I've never been a big outside decorator.

My husband actually does more of the decorating than I do.

I used to to put up three trees, and those little houses, and candles, and wreaths, and lights on the bushes outside. This year - nothing. I've got a nasty cold, and we're leaving for an extended trip to Texas next week, so I'm just not going to bother. I have to say that I miss the decorations.

I've trained myself to be extroverted .... but basically I am a shy person.

Monday Dec 12: Does your book club meet in December?
Three of mine DO. But we move the regular date of one of them (usually 3d week) to earlier in the month so we can avoid some of the holiday "rush." The last of my three book clubs is meeting tonight!

I think I'm a little of both.

I don't know of any book clubs by me. I know there are some but I don't seek them out because when I see a stack of books in the library that they are saving for a book club it isn't anything I would be interested in.

It's been so long that I don't even remember.
Tuesday, Dec 19: What's your favorite dessert?
My father was always partial to peach cobbler ... and he always asked at every restaurant if they had it. They almost never did. Yesterday, when we arrived at the house we're renting this week, we found in the kitchen a home-made peach cobbler (and vanilla ice cream in the freezer) to welcome us to "The Cottage." My first reaction was , "Oh, Daddy!" It was delicious! He would have loved it.

* Cheap vanilla/vanilla birthday cake with LOTS of frosting.
* Also, I love chocolate cake (with LOTS of frosting).
* Chocolate dipped vanilla soft serve ice cream cones from Dairy Queen.
* Very chocolate milkshakes
* Chocolate ganache
* Lindt dark chocolate truffles
* Bread pudding with vanilla ice cream and hot caramel sauce
* Apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream
* Chocolate mousse (not to be confused with French Silk pie which I do not care for) pie in Oreo crust
Oh, was I supposed to just say 'one'?
PS: calorie bargain: chocolate eclairs for 200 calories

I have to apologize. I have taken off most of this month to focus on my family and I'm sorry I haven't posted questions or interacted. I promise to start fresh in beginning 2018. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season!

No problems, Leah. Sometimes real life just has to take precedence.
Happy holidays to you and yours as well!

Saturday, Dec 23: Are you hoping for a WHITE Christmas?
Well, since I'm in San Antonio for the holiday, I doubt we'll have snow. Then again ... two weeks ago the city got a freak 3-inch snowstorm! Miracles CAN happen ....

Yes and no. It would be nice to have a white Christmas. I live in Tennessee and it's rare. I'm from New Hampshire and miss it sometimes. I also say no because I work on Christmas day at the ambulance service and people in TN don't know how to drive in the snow. It would be nice to have a quiet Christmas.

We got between an inch to two inches of snow on Thursday and Christmas is suppose to be below zero so I think it is safe to say we will have a white Christmas.

Unfortunately, once again, I have to work until 8pm on New Years Eve, so nothing special. My girls and I will do our annul new years chinese dinner Monday night.

No. It is 15 below here so I prefer to stay home under my warm blanket. Maybe watch a movie or read a book.

We're also in the deep freeze here in Wisconsin. Today (Jan 1) we'll bare get out of the MINUS into the plus.

I'm usually done by now, because I have to ship to another state. But my nieces and nephew are increasingly slow to get me any sort of list, so I may wind up buying gift cards at the last minute for them. I *have* bought all the books I plan to give, and they'll be wrapped by tomorrow, and shipped out on Monday or Tuesday.
