I just spent some time with patients at Eating Recovery Center in Chicago. So inspiring! Many patients had decided, on their own, to write a Declaration of Independence from Ed. I even had the chance to sign some of these powerful declarations.

If you wrote a Declaration of Independence from Ed, what would it say?

Or, what are some favorite recovery mantras that keep you on recovery road?

For ideas, check out My Declaration of Independence: https://jennischaefer.com/wp-content/...

Shannon | 21 comments So awesome! Some of my favorite mantas:

(breathe in) love, love, love (breathe out) fear, fear, fear

Peace lives in me. Peace lives in me.

How does Bella (my dog) see and love you?

You are loved. You are loved. You are loved.

Thank You for... (gratitude)

Thanks, Shannon! Some of my favorite mantras:

Never, never, never give up!

Fall down 7 times; stand up 8. - Japanese Proverb

Don't quit before the miracle happens.

Do the next right thing.

Be willing to do whatever it takes.

Sometimes, recovery means getting uncomfortable...before the comfortable (and amazing) arrives!

Rachel | 124 comments “Don’t look back. You’re not going that way.”

“Just Keep Swimming...” (never fails that in my head I hear the whole thing in Dory’s voice.)

I’ve got more, but it’s 3am and if I start digging into all my favorite quotes now it will end up like yesterday and I’ll never be able to go back to sleep.

Love Dory, and love the concept of not looking back. You're right. We aren't going that way!
