The Foundation - Isaac Asimov

Foundation is one of those books I tried to read several times. I got far enough through, I'm counting it as read this time. Pure science fiction is just not a favorite of mine. I think this book is certainly a reflection of the politics and social of the times, but it still isn't enough to make me enjoy the book.
2. How does the Foundation allow change? Does this give them a significant advantage against their enemies?
3. Why does it matter that Mallow is not a native of the Foundation? Why does his rise mark a big turning point for the Foundation?
4. Do you think the Foundation is doing good or do you think it is oppressing the traditions of other planets? Can the other planets really be expected to believe in the Seldon Plan?
5. How much of Asimov's book do you think can be related to the political environment in the 1940s and 1950s?
