PR: Section 2 - Chapter 13-25

I'm nearing the end of this section, and I'm greatly disappointed that Avasarala hasn't shown up again, but I'm otherwise enjoying it.
It's looking like the Rocinate may never fly again, but we'll see how it goes. Holden, Bobbie and crew are now with Drummer's husband Sabu as part of the resistance.
There is some interesting commentary on how Bobbie isn't taken seriously until Holden shows up and vouches for her. Bobbie decides to use that to her advantage and has Holden pass her plan off as his own.
I initially liked Singh, or at least I was willing to give him a chance, but his actions in this section have me liking him less and less. It's bad enough he's helping to enforce as Naomi put it "The nicest Totalitarian Government in History", but his reaction to the assassination attempt was a dumb move.
Interesting conversation with Singh's superior. He seems to have maybe learned from his mistake, but I still don't like what he's trying to accomplish. I guess it's nice to have a more nuanced villain in this book since Marcos in the last one was very easy to hate/root against.

I think the whole Bobbie/Holden thing was interesting, and it made me admire Bobbie even more. Instead of getting all upset and threatened by Holden's presence, she uses it to get things done. I suppose her reaction is helped a bit by the many years that have passed (/cry) in his company.
I too am sad that Avasarala seems to be more of a cameo role in this book.

The fact that he loves his wife and daughter is frankly a low bar to clear. I'm sure Nazis loved their families too. And he's the sort of political zealot that reminds me of how the Nazis are portrayed.

Good point Lindsay - he is indeed a zealot. Ok, no more sympathy from me!

Okay I feel better now.
Edit: Okay it's from gas law but I prefer the 99 reference and I'm sticking to it. https://www.reddit.com/r/TheExpanse/c...

I want to but I think it's only on Hulu which I don't have/pay for :(
I saw someone say it was on Netflix but that must be outside the US..
