Section 3

Please do not discuss events from later sections/books. Referring back to events from a previous section/book is fine.

So I was wondering if they were going to kill Holden. Maybe they still might. He's been the only consistent POV, but I could see the series going on without him, especially as we're nearing the end.

Hopden sacrificing himself for the mission would have been an appropriate way for him to die.

It seems like his knowledge of the "bullet" will give him a stay of execution. I'm really hoping the crew breaks him out and escapes on the Rocinate. I feel like Peaches may sacrifice herself for him though.

I was really getting frustrated with Amos. I'm glad Bobbie beating the shit out of him seems to have snapped him out of it.

When we last saw that bullet, Miller had steered it off to Venus, right?

I believe yes, the bullet was on its way to Venus. I don't remember it since then.

I can see the possibility of Holden dying by the end. Gulp.

I'm still loving Bobbie - she was correct (in earlier sections) that in some ways - like taking care of Peaches' health - she was going to be a better captain than Holden. But it is hard to replace a legend. I also LOVE how tough she is. From the first fight with the prisoners, to the fight with the other rebel elements - to Amos - she takes a beating and just keeps going til she wins. I LOVE that.

I HOPE Amos snaps out of it. He was perhaps my favorite recurring character, but not in this book!

Bobbie is awesome in this book. Of course she's always awesome, but I'm so happy to have her as a POV again.

I agree about Bobbie. In a lot of ways this is the culmination of who she is post-marines.

I haven't quite finished this section yet (4 to go) but I am moderately alarmed that there isn't another Holden chapter in this book (I haven't read any comments in this thread yet). I can't imagine he's dead and but... in a strange turn of events for me, I am greatly worried about him.

Haha. I figured you'd be excited by the lack of Holden chapters!

Me too! My feelings on Holden have changed ever since I saw a comment (on reddit I think) that said he’s a DnD paladin. Everything about him suddenly clicked and, while I didn’t like him any more or less, I at least understood him more.

Oh nice Holden description - that does seem to solidify his character.

Haha. Yeah totally a Lawful Good character.

Yeah, he’s a lawful good paladin to the bone.

So of course Naomi and Clarissa meet with Jordao and things are gonna go pear-shaped for their Save Jim plan. Ugh, the stress!

I was getting real close to being totally over Amos’s attitude. I’m glad Bobbie kicked some sense into him and I hope it sets him straight. I can definitely see Clarissa sacrificing herself to save Holden. Fitting way for her to go out. Save the man she tried to kill.

I remember exactly nothing from Cibola Burn so I don’t know the deal with the sphere at all.
