Liam Perrin (liamperrin) | 194 comments It never rains here. I'm not a desert person. I grew up in a forest.

I found this site http://endlessstorm.com/ and I'm reading with it running in the background and I feel almost drunk.

Cee | 37 comments Hi Liam!

I live in the UK. Rain is never in shortage here :D

message 3: by Bran (new)

Bran | 98 comments Hi Liam.

I, too, am a pluviophile. Born and raised in the pacific northwest, I think I'm one of the few who doesn't complain about the rain. I cease to function in temperatures above 80 degrees.

It's December and I'm running our AC to keep it at 70 or below. There are crazy people here who complain about cold when it's in the low 70's. You have to run from the house to the pool or else you will explode in a ball of dry dust.

Me too. And rain on leaves. And rain on windows. Even windshield wipers. One night on a mountaintop long ago and far away it was so quiet I could hear snowflakes landing. One of my favorite memories.

message 8: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) I also love the sound of rain. I used to listen to rain soundtracks when I went to sleep, now I listen to audiobooks instead. But rain is definitely more relaxing. It's raining here at the moment, and I love how it echoes in the inner yard of my apartment building. I can't explain this properly, but I'm kind of on a hill and there are four buildings sort of close together, so that they form a kind of canyon beneath my balcony. In the summer I often stand there at night when it's raining, the sound is amazing and I can watch masses of water slosh around at the lowest level. Right now it's way too cold to go outside, but I have the window open so that I can enjoy the sound.

I can picture it (and hear it) perfectly Anna. It sounds amazing. :)

Liam, I've told Santa to give you half of our rain. North West England always wet. Though currently with snow.

message 11: by Michael (new)

Michael | 63 comments I love listening to rain on the room of my home. I love sitting on my covered porch and watching the rain. It's when I have to go out in the rain, especially on a could day, that my appreciation wanes... ;)

I await the deluge with hopeful anticipation. Snow is welcome too. I will send you our sun.

Heh. Respecting boundaries is critical to any healthy relationship.

Daniel Holliday | 3 comments Bit late to the party, but I love to stockpile new and intriguing words as a bit of a logophile myself :) (maybe I will have the opportunity to implement them in writings of my own in the future) so thank you for using pluviophile!

And thank you for logophile. I suppose I am that as well. Give me some rain outside, a hot drink by a fire, and a dictionary and I'm set.

There I was, with a friend, when we spotted the word 'pluviophile' out in the wild.
Friends: what does that mean? Why can't they use real words, no one will know that.
Me, hiding my smugness with a veneer of innocence and intellect: oh that means someone who loves rain.....

Thank you, Liam.
