Peter Kazmaier (peterkazmaier) I just finished Andrew Klavan's The Great Good Thing. I wonder if anyone else in this group also read it and enjoyed it as much as I did?

I have not. Could you do a review on it?

Hello Sylvia,

I have written a brief review on Goodreads [https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...]. I plan to write more but was hoping to temper my conclusions by talking to others in our group who have also read the book. I'll keep you posted if I write more.

Thank you for your interest and your response.

Peter

Ned | 206 comments I read it, and reviewed it. Klavan is an interesting guy who took a circuitous route to Christianity. You never know who is going to be redeemed, and how. God has his way of reaching us. I enjoyed it very much.

Ned | 206 comments Here is my review:

"At first, I found the prose a bit purple. Could you cram in any more adjectives?, I thought to myself. But once I got past the first chapter, the book began capturing my imagination. Klavan has written a startlingly honest, whimsical account of his life journey that is quite engaging. I consider myself somewhat introspective and analytical, but I must say he has me beat by a mile. I can't imagine being as introspective as that. What a unique man with a unique perspective and testimony. Klavan's was not a Damascus Road conversion, but slow and subtle. I'm glad he made it and took the time to share his engaging story."

Ned, thank you for your comment and review. I shared your thoughts about appreciating Klavan's "startlingly honest ... account of his life journey." Klavan has kept me thinking about a great many things he said. A friend of mine also shared this link of an interview with Andrew Klavan which I also found enlightening ... https://soundcloud.com/theefc/andrew-...

Ned | 206 comments Peter, since you enjoyed this book so much, I am just reading another that is very much like it and I believe you would enjoy it just as much.

How Dante Can Save Your Life: The Life-Changing Wisdom of History's Greatest Poem

Peter Kazmaier (peterkazmaier) Thanks Ned, I'll add it to my reading list.

Ned | 206 comments Great. The only reason I am reading it is that it is on sale for $0.99 for the Kindle version and anything I find tangentially interesting I buy when it's on sale. Probably wouldn't have picked it up otherwise. Sad, but true. I am glad to be reading it because it is excellent.
