Congratulations, Rosemary!

Your silent partner for this enterprise is Susan. Please PM her if you should be offline for more than 48 hours. Otherwise, she will also monitor and respond to requests if not responded to (sometimes real life can takeover), after 48 hours.

Hello, Rosemary. What a scary place you have here! (Whispering: I usually try to avoid this author, although I have a few of his on my TBR and I remember watching a few movies and afterwards finding that they were his movies. I didn't think they were so bad, so that explains the TBR.)

I would like 3 choices to consider from my bookopoly shelf.

message 7: by Rosemary (new)

Rosemary | 946 comments Hi, Bea! Maybe it is too scary, since I don't seem to get many visitors ... you are one of the brave ones! ;)

Here are your picks:

The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials, #1) by Philip Pullman The Golden Compass - a YA fantasy novel that I really enjoyed
The A.B.C. Murders (Hercule Poirot #13) by Agatha Christie The A.B.C. Murders - I love Dame Agatha!
Hillbilly Elegy A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis by J.D. Vance Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis - I was just looking at this one in the shop where I volunteer this morning, and thinking how interesting it looked!

Rosemary, I am going to choose The Golden Compass as it is on my list for the monthly book for January as well as my Wheel. I have put it on hold and am #1 on the list, so I should get it quickly.

Kristina Simon (kristinasimon) | 801 comments Hi, Rosemary! I've landed on your property. Could you please choose 3 from my Bookopoly shelf please? Thanks!

message 10: by Rosemary (new)

Rosemary | 946 comments Sure! I'll pick three books I've heard really good things about:

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children, #1) by Ransom Riggs Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children
Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate Before We Were Yours
Burial Rites by Hannah Kent Burial Rites

Enjoy!

message 11: by Manuella (new)

Manuella | 3 comments Hello Rosemary,

I am not sure how this work? But you are going to pick three books to suggest if I am right? I am new to Goodreads and just discovered how much I am into reading :)

Thanks!

message 12: by Rosemary (last edited Jan 15, 2018 06:16AM) (new)

Rosemary | 946 comments Hi Manuela,
The instructions of the game are here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
That thread is for questions, too. If you have played Monopoly, you'll see it is similar.

Normally you would create a Bookopoly shelf in 'My Books'. But since you only have 36 books on your to-read shelf, I can use that if you want to get started right away.

I pick three, and then you choose one of them to read. So my picks from your TBR are:
The Bear and the Nightingale (Winternight Trilogy, #1) by Katherine Arden The Bear and the Nightingale
Pretty Little Liars (Pretty Little Liars, #1) by Sara Shepard Pretty Little Liars
Twilight (Twilight, #1) by Stephenie Meyer Twilight

Enjoy the one you choose!

Thanks, Rosemary! Boy, this is going to be such a hard choice. Before We Were Yours is my IRL book club book so I'll probably go with that. But you're the third person to pick Burial Rites and I really want to read that one, too! Decisions, decisions...... LOL

Whelp, the library decided it for me. I'm #166 in line for Before We Were Yours so that's not going to happen for a while yet. Therefore, Burial Rites it is! I even have that one on hand. Thanks again for choosing!

message 15: by Rosemary (new)

Rosemary | 946 comments #166! OMG! I hope they have more than one copy! Maybe you can borrow it from someone in your book club who finishes early?

Anyway, I hope you enjoy Burial Rites :)

Rosemary, I've landed here. Shiver. Stephen King is not my style, so I'd like to get away as soon as possible. Could you pick 3 books for me from my shelf ?

message 34: by Rosemary (new)

Rosemary | 946 comments Your wish is my command, Susan. But you'd better move fast before IT wakes up and notices you were here ...

Lirael (Abhorsen, #2) by Garth Nix Lirael - I liked this one even more than the first
The Silkworm (Cormoran Strike, #2) by Robert Galbraith The Silkworm - but watch out for the description of the murder, it's gruesome :(
Nothing Can Possibly Go Wrong by Prudence Shen Nothing Can Possibly Go Wrong - love the title!

These sound great, Rosemary!

I'd almost forgotten about the Sabriel series. Based on your recommendation, I think I'll go with Lirael.

Lol! I'm actually in the middle of another nonfiction, so I'll have to wait on that one a bit longer. I'm SO torn on the other two, though! One works for wheel and one I just want to read.............. okay, I'll go with Assassin's Apprentice (Farseer Trilogy, #1) by Robin Hobb because I works for Wheel of Bookshelves! Thanks!

Thanks, Rosemary! I've completed those 3 RwS tasks and I'm actually trying very hard to focus on Wheel of Bookshelves which the first & third pick above fit for Round 2 so it'll be one of those :)
