The group voted to read the Fantasy nominee, The Bear and the Nightingale, in January. The winner for this genre was Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: The Original Screenplay. Have you read any of the other nominees for this award? Which have you read and what did you think? Which was your favorite?

Do you plan to read any of them in the future? How about setting up a buddy read of one that you are interested in this month? Use this thread to discuss and find a buddy!

Schedule buddy reads here, then set up a separate thread to discuss.

Janina (sylarana) | 692 comments The only one I've read is Etched in Bone which was pretty good. I really enjoy the overall series even if this wasn't my favorite book of all of them. Still, a solid 4-star read for me.

I'm also reading both the Divine Cities series (which is fantastic and very unique imo) as well as The Stormlight Archives which is truly epic and I love the first book .. still haven't gotten to the second, let alone third yet. Including Oathbringer in this year's awards is a bit silly as it was only released on Nov 14th and has 1243 pages .. apart form crazy fans without anything else to do in their lives, it's hard to imagine folks actually having had the time to read this. I can't wait though .. I've put part 2 on hold until part 3 came out.

I'll give The Bear and the Nightingale a try for sure. Red Sister sounds good too. As does the Fitz and the Fool trilogy. I'm just a bit weary of taking on too many of these big series at once. I prefer to wait until they are finished, but then I forget they even exist.

I haven't read any of these yet and I have very little interest in the list as a whole. I think part of the problem for me is that most of them are part of series that I haven't read.

I will probably read Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: The Original Screenplay when we read it as a group. I'm hoping I can get it through the library. I haven't checked yet.

I own Silence Fallen and will eventually get around to reading it. I pre-ordered it, but either haven't had time to read it or haven't been in the mood for it.

I may also read A Conjuring of Light at some point. I still need to read book #2 first though.

Savanes | 2107 comments I'm interested in Red sister and in the broken earth trilogy. The first book was soooooo original and fantasticaly written. I think it was one of the most surprising book I've read in a long time!
Other than that, I loved the first assassin trilogy so I would like to continue with the story. We'll see!
