The Alliance of Independent Authors maintains a database of Award and Contest Ratings on their Self-Publishing Advice Center. I can't speak to the quality of their self-publishing advice, but if you are thinking about entering a contest, it is definitely worth checking their Award and Contest Ratings to see if it seems legitimate. You can also submit the contest name to their Watchdog Desk or view their Guidelines and decide for yourself whether the contest or award looks worthwhile.
Places for Writers posts calls for submissions and contests and lists publishers and literary journals in Canada.
Jane Friedman, on her website for The Business of Being a Writer, provides sample book proposals, synopses, query letters, and links to other free resources for writers.
The Betjeman Poetry Prize is for students in the UK, ages 10-13, which is a little young for most people here. But they also have a good list of free poetry resources that could be useful.
Seth Abramson's The Insider's Guide to Graduate Degrees in Creative Writing is the most current and most comprehensive book, listing programs started as recently as 2019 in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Asia, and including MFA, MA, and PhD programs.
I Have Thoughts is a new bimonthly e-newsletter by Kim Pittaway on writing craft that includes a craft essay, book publishing news,, and other information of interest to writes.
