⚜️XAR the Bookwyrm (xar-the-bookwyrm) description

The Really, Really, Really, Really, Hard 2018 Challenge!

Revamped for 2018! Challenge tasks are to be completed in the listed month, but if you're entering the challenge after January, you can use books you read in the corresponding month of 2018 that you finished before joining the challenge.

If a particular month is too challenging for you, feel free to substitute one month with a challenge task from another version of the challenge, duplicate a challenge task from another 2018 task, OR you may create your own challenge for that month. Remember...it needs to be CHALLENGING! Administrative note: There is no limit to the amount of times you can substitute tasks for a specific month!

Remember to list the book titles, author, and date completed (adding your rating is optional) for each book you finish each month. DO NOT post a duplicate copy of your original post when you announce that you have finished the challenge!

There are no page minimums or limits to this challenge currently, but that may change for 2019! Feel free to PM Foreman Trea with suggestions for next year's Challenge!

Shandra | 24 comments Question: How do we do a Fibonacci Sequence in book series format? Would that be like Book 1 of the series, Book 1 of another series, Book 2 of a series, Book 3 of a series, and Book 5 of a series? Or would it be just doing Books 1-5 in the same series?

That's exactly it! I did it for this year's version of this challenge, and here's how I set up my entry in my post:
November – This month: This month: World Peace Day! Read 5 books set in 5 different countries.-Substitution! Fibonacci Day (1, 1, 2, 3, 5) Read 5 books from a series to form a Fibonacci sequence.
1. One: Risking It All # 1: Run to You by Rachel Lacey-11/19/17
2. One: Cupid's Café # 1: Waffles & Weddings by Ashley Lauren-11/21/17
3. Two: Imperfect # 2:Imperfectly Criminal by Mary Frame-11/22/17
4. Three: Men of the North # 3: The Mentor by Elin Peer-11/17/17
5. Five: The Kauffman Amish Bakery #5: A Season of Love by Amy Clipston-11/26/17

Now, you could do it like this:
November – Fibonacci Day (1, 1, 2, 3, 5) Read 5 books from a series to form a Fibonacci sequence.
1. One: Risking It All # 1: Run to You by Rachel Lacey-11/19/17
2. One: Cupid's Café # 1: Waffles & Weddings by Ashley Lauren-11/21/17
3. Two: Cupid's Café # 2:Bacon, Love, & Tomatoes by Ashley Lauren-11/22/17
4. Three: Cupid's Café # 3: Sweet as Shortcake by Ashley Lauren-11/24/17
5. Five: Cupid's Café #5: Fries Before Guys by Ashley Lauren-11/26/17

Totally up to you how you form it, so long as the books read are A) in a series, and B) correspond to the numbers that form a Fibonacci Sequence. You're also welcome to extend the sequence if you so desire! Hope that clarifies things for you!

No, I didn't put one in this year, so there are no page minimums or limits. I may change that for next year, though.

★ gwiz ★ (ggwiz) | 108 comments I have put requests for 6 books with release dates in January 2018 but I don't know is I'll get them before the end of the month. I have one on preorder from Amazon. So I should get that one before the end of the month. The hard part of this month is getting the books in time to read them.

I had to have ONE really challenging month in there somewhere! Of course, I figured that others may have more trouble with it than I would, so that's why I included the substitution rule. Good Luck!

I would like to join, but with only 6 days to go for the month to end, I will not be able to read 5 books.

Please advice?

Did you read anything in this month? You can always use some of the prompts for January of the previous years this has run to make the goal. (Previous Years prompts for January included: "Start the year off right. Read 3000 pages and then list the book titles, authors, and number of pages, and date completed." (Used Jan 2013/2014), "New Year = new authors! Read 5 books that are new to you authors." (Used Jan 2015), "New Year = new series! Read 5 books that are the first book in a series." (Used Jan 2016), and "Blood Donor Month and Male Watcher’s Day! Read 5 books that either have men on the cover or blood is involved somehow (think donation or vampires, etc)." (Used Jan 2017).) You could always cobble together your own challenge for January that would fit what you've already read for the month as well.

However, if you haven't read any books this month, I wouldn't recommend starting this challenge, as the rules state that the books for the month have to be read in that month.

Why don't you read childrens books published this month. There is no page limit. Maybe read short novels if you don't like kids books. I'm going to try doing that. Otherwise I'm going to have to drop out of the challenge. If I do I will probably do it as a separate personal challenge in my challenge tracker. I'll take out one or two of the reallys out of the title.

That's a good idea, and I wish I had thought of it for my challenge! I am currently in a "life slump" and can't seem to focus on anything, so wound up doing a substitution on one book of mine to get to the target 5 for this month.

Karishma, you could even mix and match across the previous prompts I mentioned to help you achieve 5 for the month. (In other words, read 1 new release, 1 new series book, 1 book with a man on the cover, 1 book where blood is involved, and 1 book that is a new to you author.)

It could still be an option in future month prompts.

And for next year's challenge! I think my "Wacky Holidays" research showed me that there is a National Children's Week or Month somewhere...just gotta find it!
