El Okay, I just need to vent somewhere because whoa this book has got me in pieces over what happened to Tea?? I made very extensive notes on this entire book so buckle up this is going to be a ride.

So, there are two Teas in this book, the one in the past (regular text) and the one in the present (italics), and in the italics Tea is banished from society basically because of something that happened ? but we don't exactly know what it is. However, its very obvious that after Tea took control over BOTH Aenah AND the azi at the end of the first book (holy shit), she's already on the fast track to being banished because shes basically committing treason and doing what no other bone witch has done before her (literally raising a daeva army lol).

From what I've pieced together from the italic chapters, (1) a king and an asha die (pg.135), (2) Kalen dies and Tea wants revenge presumably because he's a Deathseeker and he was sent onto the beach in the Sea of Skulls to die?, (3) Polaire and Althy are not fond of Tea anymore which begs the question why? (I think Mykaela is the asha that dies in the next book and Tea is maybe at fault? which would explain why Polaire and Althy give no shits about her anymore, a sad LOL anyone), (4) Tea and Fox aren't close anymore either?? damn Tea really fucked up. To the WHYs of her banishment which is quite obvious to me because there are mentions of it in every italic chapter such as "Who would deliberately break all eight kingdoms only to save the lives of Dark asha?" pg164 and "Now imagine that these daeva can be tamed. Imagine how, under a benevolent ruler, they could right everything wrong in all the kingdoms. We could use the daeva to rid ourselves of the Faceless once and for all. We could fill the world with runeberries, see that no one would go hungry or thirsty ever again. We could punish the tyrants of Drychta for your grief. Where would you like to begin?" pg213.

Tea is doing this because she is absolutely tired with how the world treats bone witches like herself and Mykaela and she thinks that using the daeva can fix the world of all its problems but honestly Tea what do you think you're doing? because she's reinforcing the idea that bone witches are evil which is what I thought she was fighting against in the first place? honestly I think after everything that happens to lead up to her banishment shes just absolutely done with explaining herself to people who don't listen (mood but like no). she's going to use war as an answer for everything but like I actually understand why she's doing this, she's not evil or anything but she's definitely setting herself up to be the villain of the story but IT MAKES SENSE WHY.

And I have so many thoughts about what's going to happen. say (1) Mykaela is the asha that dies, King Telemaine(Prince Kance's father) is the king that dies, (2) i don't know what's up with the Oracle but that lady has been condoning EVERYTHING Tea's been doing so she definitely serves as a guide or something, (3) the asha in Ankyo send the deathseekers into the Sea of Skulls maybe knowing how dangerous it is and Kalen is one of the many who die? and Tea probably feels that it's the fault of the asha in Ankyo so another reason why shes so vengeful and angry, (3) also? Aenah got her ass beat so easily?? like she literally has so much power in terms of her experience with the Dark compared to Tea but Tea managed to get control over Aenah's entire mind (AND the azi) in so little time??

i definitely want to see more of the two other Faceless leaders next book and I want to know what happens with Aenah as well, (4) and its also really sad that Tea literally has no one but frcking Bard and her daeva on tthe beach, what happened with Fox?? is he so morally upstanding compared to Tea that he had sense and stayed away from her? and tEa falling in love with kaNce? i wonder how that works and god this is so incoherent but i think that's it if you read this entire thing props to you

Sarah Hoy This is such a good summary 😍😍! My only question is whyyy did Kalen lie about being the boy in the brown cloak who attacked her at her first hearts ruin ceremony when she was 15 with her mentor??

Like why lie about that??? I assume it will be talked about in the next book! There are sooo many loose ends. In the first books and it’s soo complex trying to follow all the different pieces of the story.

And what happened her crush on the prince?! Like what?!!
