A quick easy read that you will want to devour in a single sitting! A single loner with tragic, heartbreaking history. Her life changes when a real friend come into her life and ultimately help her to find way to repair her life.
Finally cleared this one off my backlist as my book club chose it for the summer and I am so glad! This book lived up to the hype. I didn’t know it was set in Scotland, and it was a delight to revel in memories of Tesco Metro, picking up goods at the off-license, and pub life, not to mention experiencing that droll British wit through the voice of Eleanor herself (without her consciously trying to be funny). The book was both a laugh riot and heartbreaking at different times. Loved loved loved the author’s command of vocabulary and cultural references. One of my top reads in 2021.
