Melissa Hunt | 2 comments On the website with the official list, there are additional books at the bottom. What are those? Should I read those also? How many books in total? Just trying to figure this out, thank you.

We use the Black, White and Read books list. It can be found in the How It Works thread, or by following this link:

Euge Mvillarreal | 1 comments Hi there!
I was wondering if we're going to read all of the books from the list? even if it takes years?

I'm not complaining at all! :) Just wondering...

message 4: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Hunt | 2 comments I understand that, it just seems like other lists are double in size so I didn’t know if I was missing something.

its grouped by season and episode.. so there are 7 seasons worth of books on her list!

I really like that it is grouped by season. If you print out the complete list it gives the episodes too. I am going to finish the books I'm already reading and then I will start at the top.

Although, I'm with Melissa on the list. At the end of the list (when you look at the whole list it brings up a download to print, that is what we are talking about here.) It says additional. What is that about? Are they mentioned in the show and might be good to read or what?
Also, on other lists there are other books that I do not see mentioned here at all. Where are they getting these other books? Do you think they are just on bookshelves in the shot during the show? Thanks.

I know it's been awhile, but the question didn't get answered. What's with the books in the "additional section" I tried to make it clearer in message 7.
Thanks,
Stephanie

Is the list of the website used here the most accurate?

message 10: by Anneke (new)

Anneke (herzballon) I think the books from "additional" are the ones mentioned in the "new" season produced by netflix.

message 11: by Mars (new)

Mars | 2 comments Anneke's makes sense but I always thought it meant books that were referenced but Rory never actually read/wasn't physically on screen. (Or is does that not matter. Are references also included in the main list??)

message 12: by Helene (new)

Helene Just a quick question if anyone know, but does Rory Gilmores reading list include the handmaids tale by Margaret Atwood? It says some places that it does and other lists it doesn’t. For some reason I couldn’t open the one for this group to check. It just comes up blank. So wondered if anyone know and from which episode too if you know 😅

It's definitely not on the Black and White list we use for this group, but you would think Rory would have read it in a heartbeat!

message 14: by Helene (new)

Helene Rosa: thanks for letting me know. I also think it’s something she would have read. I got it for free from a friend who didn’t want to read it. I have heard so many great things about it, but I can also feel a bit of dread reading it as I don’t think it’s exactly a light read. So will see when I get the time to read it 😊

I have it on my TBR, too! The Hulu series was phenomenal, so I'm looking forward to it, but I need to make some time to read it. Let me know when you pick it up - I'd love to buddy read and discuss!

message 16: by Helene (new)

Helene I haven’t seen it but I have heard basically only good stuff about it. Is the series based on just the one book though or is there several books 🤔 I did see that there was a second book at my bookshop but it sounded like that was just published.

message 17: by Helene (new)

Helene Rosa: also yes to buddy reading it 😂 forgot to put that in there

I really liked the hand maids tale. The second book is a great ending to it and was wonderful. The series is based on the book for sure but they switched up the order. The book jumps around a lot. They also made a better backstory for the characters in the show. I really feel like its an expanded version. Its nice.

Lindsay | 23 comments Is this group still active? I see that January was the last month with an active read?

I think so. I still got your comment, although I'm don't think everyone is super chatty.

They used to update every month with a new book and the discussion of that book would happen within the month.
I think perhaps the moderator doesn't have as much time, I imagine it takes a lot of effort to keep this group going.
I hope it starts up again though!! I really miss it!

Cindy Walsh (cindyrunner) | 59 comments Thanks, I was wondering the same thing. I just started reading my own list of book the last few months that I have wanted to read on the RG reading list. I am pretty sure it does take a lot of time and effort to keep it going. I hope it does start up again.

Stevie Reads (steviereads19) | 1 comments I got the post notification, though I only saw it because I was linking Goodreads to my Reedsy account. I'm not super chatty on Goodreads and while I would love to get back into the RG challenge, I have quite a few time consuming projects going on at the moment.
