Keri (keri91) | 39 comments The movie, directed by Spielberg, comes out March 30th!

Andi (nautiluscapt) | 5 comments This book irritated me in more ways than one. Looking up my past review on the book I seemed to enjoy the idea but I really disliked the characters, including the main character (my words were 'a little shit').

I think the author self inserted his nostalgia for the 80's/or his obsession into the main character and then had the character brag about how much he knew. It's like, you know he's a whiz at 80's trivia, but the author seemed to insist you read every bit of his obsession thoughts/feelings. I got tired of it.

Now that the movie is coming out, and I think the director is a great choice... idk about Ernest doing the screenplay.

Jamie Zaccaria I read this book last year and really liked it. I have to say, I have some major apprehensions with the movie trailer. I don't know how else I expected them to show the Oasis but I don't like the full-on CGI-look it has going on in the trailer. Here's hoping it changes my mind.

Keri (keri91) | 39 comments I finished this book and I hated it so much lol. Check my review for how I feel! I feel like the movie could work if there's less circlejerking, cool graphic and less focus on the "romance".

kirsten (messyshelves) | 24 comments I wanted to like this book so much but it just came across as a pretentious white male nerd fantasy. The main character is one of the worst I've read in a really long time, I can't even remember his name that is how much I disliked him. Honestly... I consider myself a nerd and he's the type of nerd I avoid at all costs.

That said I like the idea of this book. I love the idea of the Oasis and probably would have enjoyed it so much more if the pop culture references weren't being beaten over our heads.

From the trailer, I really do think this is one of the rare times the film will be better than the book. We'll get more visuals and less of having to deal with the main character's monologing. Ugh.

Djuna Franzén I agree with Jamie, really loved it. Apprehensive about the movie. :)
