One (joramvandebeld) | 6 comments It's AWESOME. It's as if Tolkien, Glen Cook and Pratchett are playing a game of D&D, and Abercrombie recorded their play.

Drak | 4 comments I just finished it and I can say it's a good debut. Not at Lawrence or Abercrombie level, but I will definetly get the 2nd book of the series when it gets out in June or July. The pace is good, likeble characters. On the minus side I think the humour was a bit forced at times (but good overall). Also, I felt that the monsters side was a bit too crowded, I saw that the author is a video game fan, maybe that's the reason.

Gerry | 3 comments I tanked this book in a few days, thought it was excellent, laugh out loud funny in parts. I thought it was similar in tone to joe Abercrombie's books in it could be quite light hearted although not as violent.

Heather (bruyere) It was a nice change of pace given the evident light-hearted aspect of the book. It was fun to have the band analogy and I liked hearing the names of other bands. Some of the creatures were fun, but it got to be too much further in. I thought the main characters were great and well-developed.

I did think it needed heavy editing. I hated all the backstory stories that often just seemed to be an attempt at being funny. And just the quest was too long and started to loose my interest.

Overall, glad I read it and enjoyed most of it.

Veron | 14 comments I really liked this book. The cover artwork led me to think it was going to be serious but it was quite funny.

I liked the band aspect too. Also how it was written from Clay's point of view yet I still got a good feel for the other characters.
And I think he captured the aching of old bones well. I could certainly sympathise with that.

Amber (rumblethumps) | 3 comments I read this a few months ago and loved it! The humor was a refreshing change of pace without being too distracting, and the characters are all so vivid. What a great debut, I can't wait for the sequel!

Al Burke (alburke47) | 21 comments Loved this book, my favourite of 2017, and maybe a couple of years previously too. The humour really appealed to me, and I occasionally felt a little nostalgic for my salad days.
