Sarah moves rather freely throughout the city, both in poor and affluent areas. Is she naive or afforded this because of her status as a midwife, widow and a former member of the 400?

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments I definitely think her status as a midwife and a Decker give her access pretty much anywhere she wants to go. lol

I thought so, too, and she seemed to be smart about knowing those areas of town she needed to ride through versus walk without escort.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments It is very clever of the author to write a character who fits so easily into both worlds and to whom both the wealthy and the lower class will open up to.

I agree, Lauren, very clever. And the author does it so well, that it was at least believable to me.

Viki (vikir) | 28 comments I think she was able to move freely because of her job as a midwife and because of her family.
