Jeane (pinkbookdragon) | 323 comments Recently Quirk Books has reached out to me to see if the group has any interest in reading any book published by them. You can see some of their books on their website: http://www.quirkbooks.com/ , but they are known for such books as Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and much more.

I don't know the specifics completely yet, but is anyone interested in receiving books by them?

Natalie Patalie (nataliepatalie) | 10 comments I'm very interested! I have read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters. I enjoyed them both very much. Would they want us to write reviews? I have a blog where I post reviews sometimes!

message 6: by Crystal (new)

Crystal (infiniteink) | 87 comments I would definitely be interested. I can also do reviews on my blog.

message 7: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 25 comments I always see the monster-inspired classics around the used book store I frequent. Perhaps they would be interesting!

message 8: by Daniel (new)

Daniel Clark Loved Miss Peregrine. I say thumbs up to the idea :)

Ok guys this sounds like a decent amount of people! So give me some recommendations of titles that you are interested in reading. I went through and thought these were interesting to me:
http://quirkbooks.com/princessesbehav...
http://quirkbooks.com/book/suburban-l...
http://quirkbooks.com/TheResurrectionist
http://quirkbooks.com/book/thorn-and-...
http://quirkbooks.com/book/dracula%E2...
http://quirkbooks.com/thelastpoliceman

The Resurrectionist particularly interests me. I want to stay in the realm of novels rather than any of the handbooks or anything. Let me know if any of these or any other books really peak your interest so I can see about getting them delivered.

Nathalia | 17 comments I would be interested in reading "Princesses behaving badly", "The Resurrectionist", "Dracula's Heir" and "The Thorn and the Blossom" especially. I also want to throw these two in the mix:

Jurgen (jmctimmermans) | 20 comments "The Thorn and the Blossom" and especially "The Last Policeman" sound really interesting.
I'd like to mention "Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children" too, from what I've heard a real good novel. (http://quirkbooks.com/book/miss-peregrine’s-home-peculiar-children)

Awesome guys! Wow Nathalia those are both good choices too! And the fact that that book comes in the format of a big furniture catalog is what really makes me curious to check it out!

Jurgen, I have read Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, it is good. I would totally recommend it, but like I said I have already read it, and I got a free copy a while ago in a drawing.
Do you think we should put it in a poll?

message 13: by Shanea (new)

Shanea | 358 comments "Princesses Behaving Badly" seems interesting to me, but a poll seems like a great idea.

Good news! Quirk Books has agreed to send Internationally!!!!!!!!!!!

message 15: by Jeane, Book-tator (new)

Jeane (pinkbookdragon) | 323 comments Also there is no obligation to write reviews, this is the message Quirk Books sent me:

"While I'd LOVE reviews, there's no pressure. If someone likes it and posts about the book, great! If they don't, doesn't matter. I'll still hook you guys up. Such is marketing, right? :-)"

message 16: by Karena (new)

Karena (karenafagan) I'm not so much into horror, however if some of you are I've heard amazeballs things about Horrorstör. A horror story set in an Ikea store? Seems legit to me. :)

That's really great!

Well, at the moment I'm live-tweeting whilst reading a book, and it's great fun I can say! Maybe a nice way for me to do an alternative review?

I think it's a reason to do so. As you now (and others) say: many people should know about the book and read it, maybe we can help in this way?

message 18: by Amy (new)

Amy (amarla) I would be interested! I read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and it was great fun :)

message 19: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 464 comments I'm interested as well. I will look through the titles today. This is exciting!!

Jeane (pinkbookdragon) | 323 comments Great! I think we have a great number of people! So we need to vote for which one. I don't want to open it to the whole group because there are 4,175 members and that would be way too many books! But also because I want people who are serious and not just out to get a free book. So obviously if you have opened this link and have commented then you are people who are interested. I have an online poll set up we can take:

Please write your Goodreads name is the comments at the end of the polling question because this is the only way I know who took the poll and it's the only way to receive a book

(the reason I am doing this is to make sure people who actually vote get a book)

Here is the Poll:

http://goo.gl/RxBAso

We will then open a thread for that book when we all get it so we can do a book discussion (at your leisure) on the book. We'll call it the Quirkbook buddy read, or something like that. :)

message 22: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 464 comments I voted but it didn't ask for my name.

message 23: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 464 comments Nvm got it. Comments...my bad.

Jeane (pinkbookdragon) | 323 comments Jessica wrote: "Nvm got it. Comments...my bad."

LOL! I figured some people would do that so no worries. Anyone who forgets to put their name in the comments in the poll can write their name here and that they did it.

message 25: by Natalie (new)

Natalie Patalie (nataliepatalie) | 10 comments I did it! Thank you! They all look great, so while I did choose two books I don't think I'll be disappointed with any of them!

message 26: by Nathalia (new)

Nathalia | 17 comments So exited!!

message 27: by James (new)

James Biser (biser) | 23 comments I voted, but I am excited to read any of the Quirkbooks we con-sidered.

message 28: by Julia (new)

Julia (juliastrimer) The poll closed on Aug. 7, and I'm glad to see that The Resurrectionist: The Lost Work of Dr. Spencer Black won! I really enjoyed both Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and the sequel, Hollow City--and it seems from the description that Hudspeth's book has that same sense of the uncanny.

message 29: by Crystal (new)

Crystal (infiniteink) | 87 comments Oh dang. I wasn't able to vote in time. :(

message 30: by Amy (new)

Amy (amarla) Soo only 7 of us voted and The Resurrectionist won?

message 31: by Amy (new)

Amy (amarla) Is there a new group thread for The Resurrectionist?

message 32: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 464 comments Are we supposed to be getting those soon?

message 33: by Amy (new)

Amy (amarla) I got mine today...
