Surprisingly, there are a few. The Asene Lupin series and the Fantomas serials were pre-WWI French renditions of Sherlock Holmes, only told from the perspective of a gentleman thief and serial killer, respectively. They weren't necessarily shining examples of excellent prose, but there were influential enough for it to be interesting that most of the two series are still French only.
