Maggie | 3 comments Might even *be* a Stephen King, but I can't find it, LOL.
What I recall:
A guy saves a little girl from being hit on a road by a lake. The Mom is single, lives in a trailer by the lake. Works at an inn run by a wonky elderly pair (brother & sister?) and the old man is in a wheelchair. The Mom is killed by ??? The little girl (who refers to herself as "'cause my Mom says I'm just a little guy") sees/senses things/danger. The elderly couple tries to kill the guy down on the lakeshore.
Many thanks ... Maggie

Laura | 121 comments Hi, Maggie, some of this sounds like Bag of Bones by Stephen King (sorry, I don’t know how to add links on the phone). Definitely a man saves the little girl walking in the road, she calls herself something like little guy, the elderly couple tried to kill the man in the lake. And the mother gets killed. The old couple are the woman’s father in law and his housekeeper/sister, and they are incredibly wealthy, they don’t own an inn. Worth checking out though.
