Barbara M (barbara-m) | 2594 comments I'm not sure why this was listed under Science but it is such a classic in Childrens Lit. When my kids were in school, my oldest loved it. I've been determined to read it some day, so this seemed a good time. It is science fiction and the two adult characters are scientists.

The story was good although I was not sure how it would go over with today's school children. However with a movie coming out, by Disney, that will spark some interest! I just watched the trailer and the images make me want to go see it. It's way beyond anything my feeble imagination was able to come up with in the reading. I thought I had a good imagination when it came to creating how the characters would look but, of course, Disney is so much better at that!

This is the story of Meg whose scientist father has been missing. He was investigating time and space travel. Meg gets into trouble all the time at school. She has twin brothers and a very younger brother, Charles Wallace, who is quite the odd boy; he knows and senses things others don't, especially at the age of 5. They meet a neighbor and schoolmate of Meg's and the three of them (not the twins who play a very minor part) go on quite the adventure after meeting Mrs Who, Mrs Whatsit, and Mrs Which.

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 8411 comments I liked the book, but .... Listened to the audio, which - unfortunately - was read by L'Engle. Terrible audio.

Tracy (tstan) | 1261 comments I reread this late last year, and fell in love with it again. Can’t wait to see the movie!

I read this book years ago, but my only memory is that I liked the book. I do have it on my re-read list, but like you, I am afraid it won't have the same appeal.

Hi Hahtoolah. When a friend of mine who is a bit older than me read it for the forst time and rated the graghic novel version 3 stars, I thought I would try out the standard novel again for probably a 3rd or 4th time and again for the 1st time in 25ish years. Not for me the standard text. So I tried the graphic novel. Just the thing. A Wrinkle in Time: The Graphic Novel. Instead of thinking that the text was so simple, I could read each blurb of speech, momentarily focus on it, amd move on. I found quotes worth recording in my private comments, quotes that helped me to imprint on my brain spiritual truisms about myself/my world. So the graph format did it for me.
