OK, this is not a nomination yet but just thinking out loud to see if any of these interest people.
Blaise Pascal's, Pensées
Frank Sheed's, A Map of Life
GK Chesterton, The Everlasting Man
Pensees is a series of short thoughts on Christianity which can serve as a devotional. A Map of Life is a book that shows how the Christian life forms a grand master plan. The Everlasting Man is a book that shows how history has been shaped by God for His purpose.
You can find these books on Amazon for a fuller description.

Great. I’ve been meaning to read that.

Welcome Silver, and thank you for the nomination. As you can read above, this read in the cycle is for reading budget priced books. There has to be an option for purchasing the book for $5 or less. I didn’t see it at Amazon. Is thee such an option?

Oh you're right. I didn't see that! Then it's nominated. Thanks.

I read both Pascal and Chesterton and they are both brilliant but rather "heavyweight". Frank Sheed's volume looks ideal to me.
Last day to nominate. I'm going to pass on the nomination. I'm going to vote for one already nominated.
Galicius, you'll have to nominate A Map of Life yourself if that's what you want.

Winner of our poll is The Everlasting Man. So this week we'll finish up with 'Inferno', and I am thinking to give us a breather for a week and give everyone a chance to get the book.
For anyone who wishes to keep this on a budget, I've seen multiple electronic versions starting at 99 cents.
We'll start the discussions first week in March. Amazon promised to deliver my book Wednesday, so I'll post a new thread and reading schedule later in the week.

Welcome to the book club Jeanine. Make yourself at home and look through some of our folders. You might want to introduce yourself, but of course it’s not a requirement.

So let me summarize the four types of reads this book club has evolved to, which we do in a cycle.
(1) Regular Book: Any book that meets the Catholic book club criteria of any price.
(2) Budget Option Book: Any book that meets the criteria but must have a purchasing option of $5 or less. This is to make it easy on people on a budget.
(3) Recurring Read: Any book that meets the criteria that is of extended length, and so will be broken up into sections of six weeks, and gets picked up where it was left off when it returns in the cycle.
(4) Short Read: A read that fills a gap between Regular, Budget, or Recurring book reads while voting and acquiring the next book is ongoing.
The next book to vote on is the budget selection. So please nominations will require an option to purchase the book for $5 or less. Lots of classic Catholic books are free on the internet. Also, one nomination per person.
Given we are in Lent, let's try to nominate a book appropriate for the season. What exactly is such a book? I'm not exactly sure, but we can discuss it.
