Chatter here about the book you are reading for the word "historical"! Some suggestions are a classic mystery, a mystery with a historical setting, or a book in which the character travels back in time. How are you interpreting this challenge?

Lisa | 32 comments For this one I want to read a classic mystery: The Moonstone . It is supposed to be the first English crime mystery novel. Not sure where it would fall in the long list of books that I want to read in March.

Interesting! I've gone to check it out and the synopsis does sound interesting, especially with the enormous diamond ^-^

Cool. I believe one of our hosts, Laura from mom2triplets04, also loves books about WWII. Will be looking forward to hearing what you think of this book when you're done ^-^

Paperback Junky (ihatemattwall) | 21 comments Most of the mysteries I read would fall under this banner. I'm way more worried about NEW books. (Gulp)

That book sounds fascinating, Delia! Even though it's non-fiction, it deals with murders and probably how the cases were solved. I'd consider that part of unraveling a mystery, so go for it!

Sorry I can't help on this one! I have not yet read any of the Sherlock Holmes besides The Hound of the Baskervilles, but that was in school. Maybe one of our other hosts could recommend one?

A few of our members are reading a Sherlock Holmes novel this year! I believe Elizabeth (the co-creator) is reading A Study in Scarlet. I'm not one to skip around in series, so that would be the one I would go for too if I was going to read Sherlock Holmes in this round ^-^

Awesome you're reading a sequel! I find myself always reading first books in series and enjoy them, but I never get to the following books. I need to work on that this year ^-^

The Mysterious Affair at Styles. So far I am enjoying it. Very hooked on her writing so far. Cant wait to get into Miss Marple bks. I watched an episode on youtube of Miss Marple At Bertram's Hotel and thats what pulled me in to start reading the stack of A Christie's on my shelf.

For this challenge, I ended up reading three different titles that qualify. They all met challenges in my Library Bingo challenge that I was finishing up earlier in the month.
I listened to all 3 of them on Hoopla audio. I also read Mysterious Affair at Styles also because of Louise The BigHaired Bookworm and her new Agatha Christie book club.
The other two were the first two Sherlock Holmes books. I had not read any of these previously. I enjoyed Study in Scarlet much more that Sign of Four. Now I need to watch the first couple of episodes of Sherlock on Netflix.
