Read 10 books that were published in 10 different decades - the century does not matter.
There are several ways to play this game. Scoring will be the same for books read, but various bonuses will apply depending on the complexity you choose. Examples below are just examples. You may choose to start/end differently and/or combine the decades and years differently. The finishers bonuses are mix and match.
You may choose to read your books published in:
A. Different decades in any order (ie xx10, xx45, xx85...)
B. Different years and decades in any order (xx23, xx74, xx11)
C. Different decades (may repeat final digit) in order (xx11, xx21, xx31)
D. Different decades and years in which both are chronological (xx19, xx20, xx31)
Decades and Years (3rd and 4th digit of the year) are treated independently of each other.
Scoring:
15.1 - 15.5: 15 points
15.6-15.8: 25 points
15.9-15.10: 40 points
Finishers bonuses:
+50 Completion
+50 Different decades and years
+50 Decades read in order (ascending or descending)
+50 Years read in order (ascending or descending)
Reading the Decades cannot be repeated.
A Few Reminders:
I. You cannot claim regular style points for any book you read for Reading the Decades (nor do the Reading the Decades tasks count as combo style points for Reading with Style's 10 and 20 point tasks).
II. All books read for this sub-challenge must be at least 100 pages, based on the most popular English-language print edition.
III. Please be aware that cookbooks, illustrated guides, and graphic novels are not allowed for the sub-challenge. Also, books designated as "YA", "Assignment", or "Juv" by the Brooklyn Public Library with a Lexile score less than 800 are not allowed.
