shakespeareandspice Just began it! A bit or two reminded me of the Bible but I really like my edition so I'm enjoying it much more than the Bible (no offense). Also, the ages of mankind reminds me of the Hindu mythological timeline in which the mankind becomes worse as time passed (they were called four “yugas”).

Marie (marienuit) | 3 comments I think it's really difficult to guess if our thoughts on this book (and on The Odyssey) are spoilers or not because the stories in it are so very well-known, I don't know if I should write here or on the other topic. Does anyone feel the same way?

I'm 35% of the way through and quite enjoying it so far, although I feel a bit lost in all the names ("Blahblah son of Him and Her who live there and his grandfather etc" haha) and sometimes I'm a bit confused as I feel like all the stories are told at the same time and there are no "clean cuts" between the story of Character13 and then immediately afterwards the story of Character14 (I don't know if I put my thoughts into words that well lol).

shakespeareandspice Honestly, I don't even know if there are any such thing as “spoilers” in this book since each “book” tells different stories.

Yeah I seem to be getting lost here and there too but I’m looking things up on Sparknotes after I read each book to see if I’m following it right. And SN also has a list of all the “characters” so that’s been incredibly helpful. :)

Jean Menzies (jeanmenzies) | 25 comments Just wondering if anyone else is finding reading this vey similar to reading a collection of short stories?

shakespeareandspice Oh absolutely. That's why I can't read too much of this at one time or all the stories start to blend in together and I can't remember what’s what. :)

Lydia (lydiaemilyy) | 1 comments Definitely finding it like reading a collection of short stories! I mean, I knew that Metamorphoses was essentially a collection of myths, but I still didn't expect the feel of a collection of short stories haha! I'm really enjoying it though. Probably helps that I already know a lot of the myths and gods and everything (although because I'm definitely a Greek historian I keep getting confused because these are the Roman equivalents haha!)

Ashleigh (ashleighsbookshelf) | 6 comments I found it very much like reading a short story collection. Which was actually perfect as it was what I was in the mood for!

Finished this today actually after a week of dipping in and out of it. Enjoyed it on the whole, a few niggles for me but ultimately it was pretty awesome :D I'm looking forward to going back and re-reading the ones I've bookmarked!
