Benedict Patrick (benedictpatrick) | 34 comments We're almost there! I'm sure, like me, many are falling behind a bit. You know the drill by now...

Jennifer (bunnyreads) | 23 comments This was well written and I liked Fencress. I did wish for more of an aftermath or something because the way it ended felt so abrupt. After all that action and then that decision… and I was like WAIT, it can’t be over! I have questions! I want more! Which, I guess in a way is good, the story does make you want to find out more about this world and these people.

Bryan | 20 comments I liked the build, but the end did feel a bit rushed. A cool little setup with the bar and blood box. I thought the light world building we got was pretty interesting and Fencress was a nice character, though I wouldn't have minded knowing a little more about Karnag.

Overall, a nice introduction to a series I may look into further.

Terrible Timy (queensbookasylum) | 22 comments It was a nice little story, as Bryan, I also liked the setup of the bar and the Blood Box.

I seriously thought the ending will be something different, I waited for a twist which never came. The story was well built, but I needed more background to the characters and why the victim was chosen. Yeah, some more pages would have done good to this one and it just left me wanting more, so at the end I am a bit disappointed.

Btw, I liked Fencress' cleverness. Definitely added a soft touch to Karnag's brutality and rawness I think. But she made that decision too easily in my opinion. Especially for a woman and with her past (being sold and all).

Travis (tctippens) | 21 comments I agree with the others that the ending was a bit....unexpected? I was thinking it was heading towards some twist or that the job was a trap, and then everything just worked out.

The characters and the world were great. I loved the tavern, the Blood Box, and the implied history behind the main characters. I'd definitely read more in this world.
