They Both Die at the End
question
Why are the two boys terrified of their death, i think they both signed up for it, or am i wrong?

Hello, book friends! Have you read this Adam SIlvera book?
Can you please help me understand why they were afraid to die since they signed up for it.
or how does DeathCast work? is it like an agency or...

It seems like Death-Cast is a service that's just part of society. Everyone gets a call when they're about to die and, from clues in the story, it seems like Death-Cast's business is working with various industries that is affected by death. There's mention of how hospitals get Death-Cast notices, apparently funeral homes will work in advance to caring for a person's body afterward (since Mateo's grave is being dug a day ahead).

I think there definitely should be a sequel which explains the process behind Death Cast because I hate being left in a cliffhanger
I think it is an automatic service, you get one even if you don`t sign up for it, but how they know when people are about to die, I have no clue.
I think they should be at least a little bit scarred, like just imagine you get a call that tells you that you'll be dead in the next 24 hours but you don't know how or when. But I don't think they signed up for it I think, just like the others have been saying, that its an automatic service.
death is inevitable...sure they're finding out they are dying that day, but it's not like it's a big surprise

yes but also, think about how hard that is to hear, terrifying. being told yo you got 3 hours, never finishing anything because it wasnt enough time

Only in the second book can people sign up for it. It’s also really sudden to know you have less than 24 hours and there are probably things that you want to see or people you want to talk to before passing.
It's an automatic service in the second book. I also think that their parents might have signed them up for it when it was launched.

It seems like an instant "sign-on" when someone is born. They don't get to choose whether or not they're chosen, it's just an immediate given for everyone.

No, they didn't, Death-cast is kind of like a part of society. I would say it adds a sprinkle of dystopia into the book. Anyways, they get the call that they're dying soon, so they know it will happen, but they didn't ask for that. And, they're scared, but they seem okay-ish about it. But then they find each other and they see that they are missing out on more than they used to be. And their view changes the more that they bond. I mean, their romance was so strong that they literally fell in love in less than 24 hours. That's probably something you're scared to lose.
