Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys Get Well Soon History's Worst Plagues and the Heroes Who Fought Them by Jennifer Wright Pretty Girl-13 by Liz Coley

But far and away the best one that was immediately added to my favorites shelf:

Away We Go by Emil Ostrovski

Brooke | 1109 comments One of my favorites was Beneath a Scarlet Sky by Mark T. Sullivan . It's based on a true story about a boy from Milan and his story during WWII.

I also really enjoyed The Dry (Aaron Falk, #1) by Jane Harper , Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate and Men Explain Things to Me by Rebecca Solnit .

Trish (trishhartuk) | 3675 comments I read Men Explain Things to Me a while back. I thought it was excellent.

I'll admit, I did some comfort re-reading this challenge, something I don't do often: A Christmas CarolThe Gospel of Loki and The Lord of the Rings (albeit in its component parts).

Five-star new reads, though. I read Charlotte's Web for the first time (I know, definitely slipped as a kid) and loved it.

I also enjoyed The Christmas Train far more than I expected to.

Christine | 917 comments I had many great four star reads this season. The two five star reads that really stood out for me were Dark Fire (great series!) and The Remains of the Day.

Siobhan J | 409 comments My top 5 this season!:

1. The Ballad of Black Tom - So good that it may well end up as my best book of the year. I read it mid-January.
2. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd - Somehow even better than it was hyped up to be.
3. And Then There Were None - Also even better than it was hyped up to be, to the point where I was screaming at my kindle in public.
4. Illegal Contact - I don't care about football in the SLIGHTEST, but I read this in three days and cried a fair bit.
5. Wheels Up - One of the last books I read this season, and one of the best. They were just so in love, it was AMAZING.

Joanne (joabroda1) | 1558 comments I had a lot of books that I really loved but here a few that were extra special

Zorro by Isabel Allende -I have read most of her books and liked them all, but this was actually a lot different than her usual story-telling. There were a lot of smiles and little laughs as I followed the adventures of Zorro. If you have read her before and been on the fence about reading another, try this one, I think you will like it!

The Alice Network by Kate Quinn I am a self-proclaimed "History-Nerd"and I love a strong woman protagonist-this book did not disappoint

A Plague of Giants (Seven Kennings, #1) by Kevin Hearne I was looking for a new genre about a year ago and tested the waters of fantasy. Now I can't get enough of it. First time reading this author and I loved his vibe and am looking forward to reading more from him.

Pat (peakles) | 145 comments I tried to read as many of the books on the March 2018 Rooster Tournament of Books long list as I could.
I don't think I can choose an absolute favorite but here are a few:

Augustown *
The Woman Next Door
Celine

and not on that list but another book I really liked:
The Music Shop
