What is Read It & Reap?

Our Read It & Reap program is designed with authors in mind. Our goal is to help indie and self-published authors promote their books.

How does Read It & Reap work?

The authors who are involved with Read It & Reap graciously give out e-copies of their books to be read and reviewed within a specific time period (three weeks). In exchange for that free book, the author receives an honest review of their book.

Who can participate in Read It & Reap?

Anyone can participate in our Read It & Reap program. The more the merrier! All you have to do is join the Shut Up & Read group on Goodreads and look for the Read It & Reap link to sign up either as an author or a reader/reviewer.
Shut Up & Read

The fine print…

By receiving a free e-book to be reviewed, you agree to the following:
- You will read and give an honest review of the book in the given time frame.
- You will post your review to at least Goodreads, but preferably Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other online book retailers also.
- You will not share this e-book with anyone! It is illegal to share the books you receive for review, so do not do it!

-------- Update to Rules & Requirements--------

Reviewers:

Member who sign up for our Read it & Reap program will receive the e-book on a first come first serve basis. This is also based on how many e-book copies the author is willing to gift to our group. By signing up you are agreeing to read and review the assigned e-book within three weeks of the date given! If you do not complete the e-book within the time given or we do not hear from you stating that you intend to finish and review the book you will NOT be allowed to participate in any future Read It & Reap events. Please note we must respect the authors and their generosity to gift us with their books.

Rules:
1.Please No book sharing without the author's consent! It is ILLEGAL and we should respect the author's hard work and talent!
2.Reviewers have exactly 3 weeks to finish and review each book. If an extension is needed please email one of the moderators and let us know so we can extend your date if needed.
3.Members will have a maximum of signing up for 2 books and completing those reviews before signing up for additional books. This is to ensure that the author will receive a credible and accurate review.
4.Once you are finish with your review please post your review through Goodreads and your link on the sign up page where you've received the ebook.
*5. We have had complaints about plagiarism. Please note that authors depend on your honest reviews and plagiarizing others reviews to pass as your own will not be tolerated. If you are caught plagiarizing:
First Offense: Warning
Second Offense: 2nd Warning
Third offense: Removal from the group.

We are so excited to see our Read It & Reap author sign up list is Expanding so quickly! Because of this we have decided to hold this event 2 times in one week. This will be held every Sunday, and Thursday's which will feature new E-books by different author's and different genre's. This will give Shut Up & Read readers the opportunity to explore new genre's and it's amazing authors.

Authors
You must first sign up on the author sign up page to enter your book in this event. Sign Up Here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I would love to sign up but am currently enrolled in the Amazon Unlimited scheme. I do not wish to supply any copies in unofficial pdf/word/etc format, however, I was wondering if I were to run a promotion and make the book free, whether this would count? At the moment I do also have 3 paperback copies to give away, however, I read from your rules that you do not allow physical copies? Kind regards, LL

Shana Dines (shanakd9) | 19 comments I don't know how to do free ebooks to say specific people, but I would be glad to do that and hope for honest reviews. Please let me know how if you can.

I forgot about the thing about the kdp thingy too. But I could make the ebook free for a couple of days again if you would like.

Last time I checked, KDP Select barred distributing copies through channels other than Amazon, but not providing free review copies, so - unless Amazon have changed their mind very recently - you could provide a reasonable number of copies for review.

Its very hard to sign up and for the Read it & Reap Program and list your book free for one or two days, members tend to sign up at random times, for example if I list your book today one or two may sign up today then tomorrow another one or two then a week later more may sign up. So I don't know if this would work for you.

Okay so if I send the ebook free from my computer that works? Do I wait until someone is interested to give it to them? I hate to sound like such a dolt, ha, but I am old!!

Shana Dines (shanakd9) | 19 comments I also have Daddy's Girl on my computer that I could add, don't know if you do them one at a time?

Normally the authors send us the book and we send out copies when someone signs up, makes it easier that way we don`t have to keep track of authors and ensuring they send out the books on time. So if still interested please sign here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Jan Hurst-Nicholson (janhurst-nicholson) | 11 comments Hi Tana,
Do you also accept non-fiction books for review?
What is the preferred form that readers ask for - Mobi, PDF, Word, Epub?
Thanks.

Yes we do accept any genre of book, most members ask for Mobi, epub and pdf. If you have all three that is great. If not the mobi and epub and the two most popular.

message 18: by Chris (new)

Chris Bieniek It has probably been asked a hundred times, but can I send a pdf, or epub of my ebook and you will give it out to say, 10 readers?
Or, do I send it directly to each reader?

Tana (tana_t) | 3459 comments Mod
Hi Chris, yes if you sign up to the Read & Reap Program, you send us the copies and we send them out.

You don't have to pick the selected book each month. But if you do select you must finish it, even if you don't like it. Just write an honest review.

There will be a link provided in Tara's post. Just click it and add your name and which format ebook you want.

Amazon allows reviews on any product or book no matter if you bought it or not.

Pamashelle | 3 comments Hello Tana,

I released my debut novel, pandemic Pandemonium a month ago and would like to sign up for the read it and reap program. However, when I click on the
link, it shows me an error.

Please let me know how to sign up for the program. Thanks

Here are some details on my novel:
Pandemic Pandemonium is a fast-paced SciFi thriller packed with action and adventure. The story begins with the current state of the world but breaks off to 14 years into the future. A mild dystopian, if you will.

Three things that mean a lot to me personally are key aspects in the book - strong female characters, exploring diverse cultures and the blessing of family.

I also had major travel plans for 2020 but none materialized due to the pandemic. This inspired me to travel virtually through the pages of my novel and take my readers along for the ride.

It'd be great if you don't spam random people in the group with emails about your book either...
