Jane (PS) | 24334 comments 1. Introduce yourself to your team. Let your team members know where you are from. This is a great to know when categories are announced and when team-mates can expect other members to post their book choices.

2. Team Captain - reserve a couple of posts in this thread tracking your team's book selection and completion. (Alternatively they could convert a chat comment to the tracking post/s.)

3. Name your team. Using this round's theme of SNOW WHITE, come up with a fun name. We are an open/public group with no age limit, so please make sure any chosen name is smart, not smutty ;)

Please PM your name to Jane(PS) by 7 March.

4. If you have a private profile, please 'friend' your team-mates. This is really important, because without this, your team-mates can't see your shelves to select a books under option 2.

5. Please post your book selections/completions in the format provided below. (This format is also posted in both the Q&A and Sign-Up threads.) We need to know the week that each book corresponds to, the page numbers, and how the book qualifies including links to lists/shelves (where applicable), etc. I can't stress this enough. When in doubt - link it*!

* don't link to your review in your completion post - reviews in your completion posts should be included in full in that post.

You don't want to start reading a book and then find it doesn't meet the requirements because some information (eg page count or theme link) was missing from your original post.

I will be monitoring this and your book will not be considered complete until I am satisfied that your selection and completion posts comply with the format rules of the challenge.

Remember - you can ONLY change your book selection in the week that the theme is called.

6. You MUST check in with your team each week, ideally once the theme is announced. Please let your team know if you expect to have spotty communication or are on holidays or having an operation.

7. When you post the completion of your book, you must post a review; enough for us to know you have actually read the book. Please don't link to a review. You must post the review in this thread.

8. Re-reads are allowed but you can't read the same book twice within this challenge.

9. There is no prize for the winning team - bragging rights only :)

10. Each week, the theme will be announced in the Q&A Annoucement thread. The full list of themes announced during this round will be maintained in msg 1 of that thread.

The Rule on the Pass Option
* Each team can only have ONE member using their pass each week.
* Each member can only use that pass once each 5 weeks.
* This means that one or two team members (dependent upon the size of your team) will miss using a pass in each 5 week block.
* No-one can use the pass option in the last week of the challenge.
* In the final week if Option 2 is used, members must select their book from another team. This will be advised in the week 11 announcement.

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Key selection and completion post information. You must have ALL elements in your book posts.

The format for selection posts Option 1:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
How the book qualifies - please insert a link to the qualifying bookshelf/list.
If the theme is based off the bookcover or a letter in the title etc, please just repeat the theme.

The format for selection posts Option 2:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
Name of the team-member, their star rating, the date they read the book.

Format for completion posts:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Rating (1-5)
Review

Please DO NOT CHAT in these selction/completion posts. It needs to be super clear.

If you 'waffle' about your decided book - please REPOST your selection once you decide. DO NOT go back and edit your waffling post.

message 4: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments I'll be tracking each team's progress separately, using the Captain's summary in each team's thread to check for accuracy.

Tammie | 2027 comments Welcome Team!
I'm excited to get started...I've done this a few times...it's a FUN challenge. PLEASE feel free to step in on messaging if I fall behind!

Let's spend these first few posts getting to know each other a bit!
-What's your fav genre/author?
-Something fun or unusual you'ld like to share about yourself with your teamies?
-When are you most likely to check-in...?

Our first task is a team name...will need to banter around some fun ideas...theme is 'Snow White'..hopefully there's some creativity within our team as that's not my strong suit...I'll Google some ideas and post some ideas soon.

message 11: by Fyre.Katz (last edited Mar 02, 2018 05:28PM) (new)

Fyre.Katz (fyrekatz) I have a team name idea... Poisoned Pages, Whistle Awhile we Read?

I'm name is Fyre.Katz or Stephanie... I have alot of fav authors and genres... I read sci-fi, fantasy, young adult, manga, romance... anything that is made up and not in my world! Ummm also I check in all the time not a time or day that i don't :) yup yup!

message 12: by Nicole (last edited Mar 02, 2018 07:06PM) (new)

Nicole P | 3200 comments Hi all :)

My name is Nicole and am almost a veteran at playing this. Totally love this challenge! I'm a history high school teacher, currently working in the desert.

- My favorite genre is contemporary romances. I read both m/f and m/m.
- Something fun or unusual about myself. Hmmmm. I love traveling. So far I've been to 22 countries and have seen 4 out of the 7 modern wonders of the world.
- I have like a gazillion favorite authors but off the top of my head: Sandra Brown, Lauren Layne, Tessa Bailey, Kate Meader, Jill Shalvis, Lauren Blakely, Sarina Bowen.
- I check Goodreads everyday. Morning, noon and night. I live In Abu Dhabi so I'm usually asleep when the tasks are posted.

Now for team names. I don't have a creative bone in my body. But this is what I came up with:

1. Bashful Bookers
2. Paging Doc
3. Royal Spines

message 13: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 2027 comments I'm a Realtor living in the St. Louis Missouri area. During the week I'm quite close to GRs most of the day. I do work most weekends...so less reading during that time for me.
I also love traveling...not sure what the modern wonders of the world are, but I'd love to see them. My favorite vacation includes a beach and warmer weather!
I love almost any kind of romance...suspense, PNR, historical etc. I have read a bit of manga...not my favorite as I don't read other languages...the art in these books is incredible though.
I look forward to snooping in your lists and finding something new to read!

message 14: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 2027 comments team ideas:
something with 'hi-ho' or is it 'heigh-ho'...
hi-ho bookers
Snow White's 6 Bookers
Snow White's Royal Spines

...let's try to decide by Monday if it's possible.

message 15: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 279 comments Hi, I'm Katherine I live in the UK. Soon I'll be working at my local library and my favourite bookstore - so yay! My favourite genres are horror, fantasy/paranormal, science fiction, and romantic comedy. I'm a diverse reader, so I read almost anything and I read a lot.

I have no preference in what type of media my books come from - just give me more books to enjoy and I'm happy. Audio book, paperback, hardback, ebook, manga, comic books, graphic novels. My favourite audio books are full cast ones and one's with a single person that can give 'different voices' for each characters.

I do enjoy a lot of different authors but my most favourite authors are Louisa May Alcott, Jane Austen, J.R.R. Tolkien, J.K. Rowling, Rick Riordan, Cornelia Funke, Tsugumi Ohba, Kazue Kato, Akira Amano, Yana Toboso, Mark Tufo, Cressida Cowell, Darren Shan, and Terry Pratchett.

Something unusual about me.... when I was a kid I could say the alphabet backwards of my head. I was born left handed and when I was little I decided to write with my right hand because I was bored and now my dominant hand is my right, and I'm ambidextrous. Oh and when I was 14 I decided to learn how to make a book; it was more to change the books cover from the old one to a new one because I read Inkheart and I wanted to be a 'book doctor'. And at that point in my life I was obsessed with psychology and I still am.

message 16: by SandyL (new)

SandyL | 584 comments Hi! I'm Sandy and I live near Los Angeles. I've done this challenge several other times and I really enjoy it! I read contemporary and erotic romance and some paranormal, plus other stuff as needed for various challenges. I like to travel, and am trying to figure out where I want to do this year. I do taxes, so I'm pretty busy until mid-April, but I do check in to GR several times a day. I can't think of anything particularly unusual about me right now....pretty boring, huh? I'll try to think up some team names - I just got home from work so my brain is fried right now! 😵

message 17: by Nicole (new)

Nicole P | 3200 comments Hey Sandy! Welcome :) And taxes! I bow down to your awesomeness.

Hey Katherine:) Welcome! I love your curiosity and diversity. Where in the UK are you from?

message 19: by ☘KathyD☘ (new)

☘KathyD☘ | 4832 comments Hi Team! Sorry for the late check in!

This is my third time (I think) participating in this challenge. I really enjoy it and look forward to another great round.

What’s your fav genre/author?
There is NO way to narrow down one genre and/or author for me...I a big fan of paranormal and contemporary erotic romances, but I will certainly read outside of those lines.

Something fun or unusual you’d like to share about yourself with your teamies?
I just finished watching the Oscars and it is WAY past my bedtime, so I can’t think of anything unusual or fun to pass on about myself...if I think of something, I’ll be sure to add it! =)

When are you most likely to check-in...?
I try to keep track during the day or early evening. I live in the southeast suburbs of Chicago so I am on Central Standard Time.

As for team names, I’m not great at generating names, but the few I see posted so far sound like good contenders!
