DHASG March Challenge

Introduction: March has arrived. The last days of winter are ticking by, and spring is around the corner. Green is for luck, so let's hope for a happy reading month.

Rules:


1. Any DHASG member can participate in the challenge.
2. Books must be read between March 1st and March 31st.
3. A book may only be used once in the challenge.
4. Please sign up and list your stats or link to the completed stats listing when you finish the challenge.
5. In your stats, include book title, author, date read, and how it represents the specific part of the challenge.
6. Enjoy and happy reading!

Levels:

1. Green is For Luck: Read 8-12 books.
2. Winter's Last Gasp: Read 5-7 books.
3. March Into Spring: Read 3-4 books.

1. HER-story: March is National Women's History Month, so let's commemorate women's history by reading a book that represents the achievements of women. You could read a historical novel or a contemporary novel with a strong female lead or based on a woman from history that has accomplished great things.
2.Love in Action: March 3rd is Caregiver Appreciation Day. On this day we recognize people who selflessly care for a loved one or dependent who is disabled, elderly, or unable to care for themselves. Read a book in which a prominent character has or is serving as a caregiver for someone.
3.Spring Cleaning: Some people embark on their spring cleaning this month. If actual cleaning is too much for you, use the time to clean off your tbr pile. Read a book that's been on the pile for at least 6 months.
4.3.14:National Pi Day falls on March 14. Pi is a mathematical constant that goes into infinity, although we shorten it to 3.14, hence the holiday. It's also Albert Einstein's birthday. To celebrate, you can read a book that: 1) has a lead character who is a scientist or mathematician, 2)is a book with 14 letters in the title, or is written by an author whose name adds up to 14 letters. 3)A book that represents something about Albert Einstein. 5. Mariposa: Mariposa is Spanish for butterfly. March 14th is Learn About Butterflies Day. Read a book that brings to mind these beautiful winged insects. Here is a website with some facts about butterflies: http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/sciencef....
6. I Love Peanut Butter: March 1st is National Peanut Butter Day. You don't have to like peanut butter to read a book for this challenge. Read a book that correlates with a fact about peanut butter. Here's a list of facts about it: https://www.mnn.com/food/recipes/blog....
7.Kiss Me, I'm Irish: March is Irish American Month. Read a book that celebrates the Irish American heritage in some way: an Irish-American lead character, a book has a writer of Irish heritage, or any of these other facts or ones that you know: http://www.chiff.com/home_life/holida..., or
8.Make Up Your Own Holiday Day: March 26th is your very own play day. You can make up your very own holiday today and read a book to celebrate it!
9.Be Your Own Boss Day: March 29th is National Mom and Pop Business Day. It's a day to celebrate small business owners. Read a book with a lead character who is a small business owner.
10.I Am in Control Day: March 30th is a day to get your mind straight and priorities in line. Be in control of the situation you're facing. For this part of the challenge, read a book where the main character gains control of their life and their situation.
11.Bye Winter, Hello Summer: The vernal equinox falls on March 20th. It's the day where daylight and nightime are equal lengths, twelve hours. Read a book that represents the vernal equinox in some way.
12.Snack Bar: There are a lot of snack-oriented holidays this month. For the challenge, read a book for one of the following holidays: National Chip and Dip Day, National Chocolate Covered Raisin Day, Popcorn Lover's Day, Pecan Day, or Girl Scouts Day (for Girl Scouts Cookies).
Bonus: Power of the 'P': For the bonus, you can read a book for Proposal Day, Passover, Panic Day, Purim, or Palm Sunday.
