After reading the prologue where Letitia is suffering some kind of physical, internal trauma, what did you think was happening to her? Was this related to her withdrawal from morphine?

Phrynne | 607 comments I thought it was when Blackwell first came to see if he could fix her pain from the accident.

I didn’t know what was going on but thought it was related to drugs. Later I thought she was going through withdrawal.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments I didn't make the connection at first but later the connection to her withdrawal was more clear.

Christina T (crysteena73) | 180 comments To tell the truth I thought it was someone dying a horrible death only to finally been giving something to ease the pain so the terrible psycho could start all over again with torture later. And then once the story started I forgot about that prologue until just now. Seriously, I just now remembered there was that weird prologue that I had no context for. Wow. I'm special.

See, we read too many serial killer books! It’s the first place we go😀 For a hot minute I went there, too.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments I thought along similar lines, that this was the killer at work. It was an odd way to start the book, with a perspective outside of either Sarah or Frank. It's not repeated again in the series.

I’m glad because I’m not a fan of these prologues without context.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments Me either. When I read this book for the first time I recall checking to make sure I had picked up the right book because it was so out of the norm for the series up to that point.

It was bizarre and never really connected later. We’re here still conjecturing. Terrible device.

Christina T (crysteena73) | 180 comments I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one thrown by the prologue. It was odd and I don't feel as bad now that I put the whole thing out of my mind.

Phrynne | 607 comments Thinking about this I realise I am not a fan of prologues at all!
