Amanda | 1 comments I read this book sometime between 2008-2012. It didn't seem like an old book. It was in the middle school/junior high section of the library.

It might have been a guide book for another book/series but I never found the main series if it was. I remember the title of the book included the fantasy world's name. The problem is that I can't remember the world name or rest of the title.

The book didn't have much of a plot, it was a fictional journal written about the male main character who was traveling through this fantasy world. Each page had a drawing that the main character drew as he was traveling. One page was especially memorable because it looked like he squashed a bug(maybe a scorpion?) with the book.
The world had different kinds of dragons based off of gems. I believe there were blue sapphire dragons, purple amethyst dragons, and huge red ruby dragons.
The book included a map of the fictional world and in the bottom right corner there was an island where the villain(an evil sorcerer maybe) lived.

The cover might have had a dragon or a gem on the front.

It has bothered me for years that I never finished the book or found out if it was a guidebook for a book series, so if anyone has any idea what I read that would be great. Thanks guys.

It's possible the book you read was Secrets Of Deltora, based on the Deltora books by Emily Rodda

Kelly (khek) | 270 comments Maybe the Dragon Codices, by R. Henham? I don't remember the order, but there's The Green Dragon Codex, The Red Dragon Codex, The Black Dragon Codex...etc. I think there's also Silver, Brass, Bronze and Gold. They're related to The Practical Guide series.

Sorry--got the answer backwards! Maybe The Practical Guide to Dragons, which had the above series related to it.
