Marianne Dobie | 49 comments Story about a 13 year old boy coming to terms with the death of his younger brother eighteen months ago. This is only revealed slowly, as Martin has run away with Charlie (or, at least, his ashes) but continues to talk to him as if he were still alive. Themes of family, grieving and letting go, kindness. Martin writes poems as part of his coping strategy, and these break up the story, which moves from past to present. Suitable for intermediates, and reading aloud, keeping in mind that there are poems. Carefully and beautifully written. Some funny parts, but not a funny book.
