I'm confused does that mean we can include Irish authors as long as it's crime or was that just a comment to help the nomination process. I'm sorry if I'm being a pain .

GR link The Abandoned: a gripping crime thriller
Hans, at the top of comment box, it says "add book/author'
Use this to post GR link to the book
Thanks
Tom

I nominate Sworn to Silence by Linda Castillo
It is book 1 in the series about a small town Ohio police chief in Amish country. Kate Burkholder was raised Amish, but left the community and became a police officer in Columbus, Ohio. She has returned as chief, hired because of her Amish background.

So according to the nomination procedures, in months where we select QIR, the monthly reads nominated cannot actually be Irish reads...or at least that's how we we were doing things in the past.
Quoting from an old message from Emma,
"Please remember:
1. People may only nominate one book.
2. All nominations must be seconded.
3. You can nominate a book or second a book not both.
4. If the book you nominate wins, you must lead the discussion.
5. Authors may not self nominate.
6. As we are also nominating the quarterly book this month, books by Irish authors cannot be nominated for the monthly book. "
As Thomas, Bookworm, etc. are the more active of the moderators, I'll leave it to them to make a final ruling though.
When searching for a link to the nomination procedures, it looks like the post with that link got moved and thus the link in our group info to that is "dead." I'll try to fix that sometime this week.

Its totally ok Susan. These things happens. It looks like an interesting read. When the QIR nomination thread goes up, you should nominate it there.

In preparation for the possibility of my nomination winning, I just finished Sworn to Silence
My review, 4/5

It has graphic violence, if that upsets you.

There is only one day left for nominations/seconds. The only book nominated and seconded is Sworn to Silence
I would like to have more books in the poll. Please post if interested.

The rules say that a book must be seconded to be in the poll. Only 1 book has been seconded of the 4 nominated.
