Why did the King of Adralan spare Celaena's life?

I believe only because she asked to make it quick and he’s ruthless and was inclined to do the opposite.

Lol! There’s one in the back of my mind fighting to surface. I’m trying to keep it simple...for now😉

There is something from Celeana past that made him do it. He knows she good at what she does and he wants to keep he alive, but suffer for whatever happened years ago. These two have a past that I hope to find out more about.
