We could read a dozen short stories or so and then pretend we just read a dozen books the size of the Fellowship Of The Ring, people will believe us without a fault 😏

A small, simple request for the group/buddy reads: can the thread titles be changed to something that includes the title of the book. In the notification I only see Let's start or Let's begin etc, and I really don't know which one is the thread to the read I'm participating in so I am opening them all just to see that it is a read/thread that I'm not following...

But that can only be done for the first topic.
It's okay for the discussions of chapters though right?

Book Titles A-Z
Color Challenge (books with the color in their cover)

Yeah. Or books that you are planning to start reading when you start school.

I was thinking that we should nominate and decide the book for each month at least 2 or 3 weeks before the month starts. So, for Nov, we could start the nominations now and decide the books by either Oct or mid-Oct instead of end of Oct, what do you think, everyone?

After we nominate books for the next month, they go into a poll to be voted on. I feel like it would make more sense to have the the top 4 or 5 books be up in the poll. People have basically already voted on the nominations, then we are just re-voting on all the same books on the poll. It would narrow it down a lot, and if people weren't interested in the couple books that were up for nominations, then they at least wouldn't be wasting their time being the only person who voted for a single book.

I feel like I'm younger than anyone else here... if it is possible, could we do more "younger" books? Like Middle School- High School? Otherwise, I guess I could just leave... but I like the games and all....

I haven't added that yet because I've seen that people usually just make a general update on GR to find interested friends. But alright :)

The group doesn't follow any particular theme in Buddy Reads or Reading Sprints. The books that are read are those selected by the members themselves. U can nominate the books u want to read. They'll b read of selected in polls :)

I love to read books for the "younger" crowd. I am actually on a reading committee that does just that. I would be happy to read with you. Make your suggestions and I'm in.

There'll be only a spoiler free discussion. One discussion for one book and everyone will need to mark spoilers.

Examples of such series: Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Divergent, Lord of the Rings, etc

Actually that's a good idea, I haven't read most hyped and popular books, so I wouldn't mind doing a quarterly buddy read for a popular series

I'm also game to read middle grade fictions, there are some really good ones out there!

HELL YES. I've read a lot of series, but it's so fun to read them with other people. You should open a list for people to add books and vote on!

Yes sounds good. Was wondering though why quarterly starts? Are we only reading 3-book series? This because I read a max of 4 books a month, one being work related. Another one would be the series-book. And I would like to have some options/free space for “spontaneous reads”, which will be difficult if we have more than 1 series on the go...?

I don't think that we will have more than 1 series on the go. And I think that we do the quarterly starts is that we give enough or more than enough time for the members to read each book at their own speed. No, I do not think that we will read only 3 book series, as Harry Potter was mentioned and as we all know it is a 7 or 8 book series, which depends on how you look it, but definitely more than 3.

Ok, I think I’m not understanding correctly, sorry.
Let’s say we start HP in January 2019. April 2019 we won’t be finished with it to start a new series right? It would take 7-8 months to finish HP.
Unless you mean that we read the 7 books in 3 months?? That would mean more than 1 a month, so I wouldn’t be able to read anything else...

How about the group do 2 books from a series per quarter? We do not have to read all of the HP books in 3 months. Also, we might start with a different series/trilogy than Harry Potter. Harry Potter is not set in stone yet.

That's what I had in mind. But we'll start from 2019. Too late for this quarter.

It might have been a great idea if there were many younger people here. Other than that, I believe others are also interested in middle grade book if not more childish books. Middle grade works for most of us.

We have some new challenges in mind for 2019. The current challenges may or may not be there.

We'll put up polls in December to help decide the most popular ones.

As you all know we have a Reading Sprint every month, we could also have a Readathon in its place for 2019.
A Readathon is where you read as many books as you can in a specified period of time. You can read whichever books you want. We'll keep themes for each month.

Should we replace The Sprint by the Readathon or add Readathon as extra?

I think you should keep both for 3 months and then see if in one of them no one participates much in then it can be replace
I think a trial would be good :)
