Adam’s father, Jim, behaves as if he hates his son and is emotionally abusive to his wife. We know it probably has nothing to do with Adam so why’s he so angry?

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments I think it did have to do with Adam being a sensitive kid, more like his mom than his tough-guy dad. Especially as a policeman.

There are a lot of issues with police brutality at home. Seemed realistic to me.

He was cruel to everyone and they all suspected he was abusing his wife physically and emotionally. Adam never had a chance to live up to his expectations because Jim was going to find fault with whatever he did.

I just wish we’d had a little more insight into this guy.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 849 comments Agree. Jim was a SOB to everyone around him, especially, Adam and his mother. No one got to be who they really were around this guy. I'm really amazed that Adam wasn't more screwed up.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments Isn't that the truth?

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 52 comments He was just an ar**hole. Enough said. Maybe his father was awful to him and he perpetuated the abuse to his son because he knew no other way.

That’s probably the most logical answer, Lisa.
