Regan Michael In the book Far from the Tree, Robin Benway tells a compelling story about Grace and her search and reconnection with her two biological siblings. Grace hopes it will help fill the space in her heart that was taken away after she gave her own daughter up for adoption. After awkward first interactions Grace and her two biological siblings, Maya and Joaquin realize that their new siblings are just what they need to help them through all their individual problems. The themes the author uses is that family will always be there for who they love. Grace is worried that if she tell Maya and Joaquin that she gave her baby up for adoption then they will resent her, like they resent their mother for giving them up, but after Maya and Joaquin find out they think nothing less of Grace and still love her. Another theme the book portrays is what one thinks is the best for themselves isn’t always the right thing for them. Joaquin has the opportunity to be adopted after fifteen years in the foster system, but he is struggling with past experiences and thinks that he should not get adopted. The author uses symbolism in how Grace represents their biological mother and their struggle with giving their baby up for adoption. The author also uses humor in Maya because even when she struggles she tries to make everyone in a better mood by using her humor. Far from the Tree receives a five star rating for the emotional and compelling story.

Lindsey That is a shockingly accurate summary of far from the tree. I totally agree with it though.
