Bookworm with Kids I think I will nominate Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck to get the ball rolling on this!

Clare O'Beara | 159 comments I have just read Bad Dad
Bad Dad by David Walliams
The dad is a veteran stock car racer who early on loses a leg in a crash; he spends the rest of the book with a wooden leg and no work. But he still wants to be a good dad.

Peter (peterdonnelly) | 35 comments I've never read Of Mice and Men - shame on me, so fingers crossed this wins so I'll get the chance soon.

Bookworm with Kids Thanks, Sara! Peter - I haven't read it either but two of my daughters are studying it at school. They have recommended it to me so I feel this would be a good time to read it!

message 7: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 2 comments I nominate A Different Familiar by Rhian J. Martin for its depiction of mental illness

message 8: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (vickin) I haven't read Of Mice and Men, it gets my vote.

message 9: by Sharon Ann (new)

Sharon Ann reads 📚📖🩷 (waterford) | 1 comments This was required reading when I was in high school.

I d like to read it again

message 10: by Susan (new)

Susan | 4707 comments You know, Finn, that's when I read it. I wonder if my viewpoint has changed now that I aged. I love Steinbeck and think this is a great nomination.

Bookworm with Kids The nominations have officially ended but we only have one book nominated and seconded. Does everyone want to extend the nomination period for another couple of days to see if we get more books suggested?

message 12: by Peter (new)

Peter (peterdonnelly) | 35 comments No, I'm delighted with Of Mice and Men but if you wanted to include the other 2 nominated books without them being seconded, I'm happy with that.

message 13: by Colleen (new)

Colleen | 1205 comments I'm not going to read it again . I think I've read it about 4 times so I'm good . It's a great book . I'll pop in to the discussion and I'll catch up on my east coast of Ireland challenge:)

Bookworm with Kids As there have been no further nominations and seconding, our Monthly Read for May is Of Mice and Men. I will open the thread later today.
