1. Maybe something with the MPG Language or about literacy, in memory of Barbara Bush
2. Something with the MPG science or physics, or perhaps with the author or book initials in "A BRIEF HISTORY OF TIME", for Stephen Hawking.
Read a play
Separately, read a screenplay (for example, the screenplay of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri has been published) or a book based on a film (e.g. Star Wars: From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker)
A biography of an author, playwright, composer or musician.
A book about Shakespeare or his works, for example Shakespeare on Toast: Getting a Taste for the Bard or Shakespeare: The World as Stage
Maybe a graphic novel task to celebrate ten years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
This might be an interesting list to base a task or two off: https://www.ranker.com/list/best-play...
As might this: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls051686144/

ie. Les Mis - set in France
Le cage aux folles (the birdcage) - a work that has been translated or a comedy etc

Read an Award-winning play
Also re the Tony Awards ... named for Antoinette Perry
Read a book whose author name includes either Antoinette or Perry (first or last name okay)

Books that Inspired Musicals
Read a biography or autobiography of a dancer
Read a book with ballet shoes on the cover (they can be on a dancer or not)

Our lovely mods thought of that one!
"Book Formats and Page Numbers Explained 3. Only plays or books of poetry may be combined to reach the 100 page minimum."

Sports are in the Fall 2018 category. See post #62 in https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
(I don't know how to link directly to a post instead of a thread):
The bonus themes for 2017-2018 have been chosen!
That's Entertainment!
Winter 2017 - Animals (zoo, circus, aquarium, safari)
Spring 2018 - Museums (natural history, art, planetarium)
Summer 2018 - Theater (movie, drama, musical, dance)
Fall 2018 - Recreation (sports, games, hikes)

In 1958, the musical was made into a movie: imdb.com SOUTH PACIFIC
Read a book with the title "South" or "Pacific" or with an author with the same name as the first or last name of one of the actors in the film.

Oh, good one!

Read a book with all letters of the title found in the types of ballroom dancing: Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep, Viennese Waltz, Rumba, Cha cha, Swing, Jive, Samba, Mambo, Bolero, and Paso Doble.

Read a book from this list: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

like the sound of that very topical

Also: from list: Mystery novels about Theatrical Performers
Also: Biographies about ballet dancers (and other performers)
Also: Books set in cities with major classical Ballet companies (http://buzz.dancechanneltv.com/list/t...), such as London, New York, Paris, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Amsterdam, Milan, Havana (Cuba), Victoria (Australia), Ontario (Canada).
There are similar lists for modern and neo-classical etc.

book where title contains word SUMMER (or WINTER)
beach scene on cover
dancer or theater scene on cover
book set in theater (building) or within a theater company
lots of movies based on books are having theatrical release this year, read one of those books
some authors or books have been adapted multiple times, as movies, theater and/or musical - read one of those books (Harry Potter universe, Les Miserables, Peter Pan)

June 3 is Wonder Woman day ... book from One of these lists:
Best Female Lead Characters
Best Woman Authored Books

Book 1: Read a book that is a Canada Reads winner.
Book 2: Read a Canada Reads finalist from a different year.
Canada Reads: http://www.cbc.ca/books/canadareads/p...

Or conversely, a two part task picking one of the above and completing the above, with part two being with an antonym in the title.
Power Thesaurus
1) Drama (synonym): Play, tragedy, performance, scene, etc
2) Quiet, calm, humor, comedy, etc
I also rather like Emily's idea of a book to movie task at every level, it could be fun:) Even more of a challenge would be genre based at each level: Romance 5 pt, Classic 10pt ...

A task themed around the film Get Out. Jordan Peele won a Best Original Screenplay academy award for this film. Maybe we could read a book by an author of color.
Saskatoon, my current city of residence, made the NY Times list of 52 places to visit in 2018 mainly because of its new modern art museum the Remai Modern. This museum boasts the most comprehensive collection of linocuts made by Picasso. A bit late to the museum seasonal theme, but read a book in which all the letters in PICASSO can be found in it's title.
Books mentioned in this topic
Star Wars: From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker (other topics)Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri: The Screenplay (other topics)
Shakespeare on Toast: Getting a Taste for the Bard (other topics)
Shakespeare: The World as Stage (other topics)
The bonus theme is Entertainment: Theater (movie, drama, musical, dance)
As in past challenges, some tasks may revolve around the seasonal theme of summer. Others may reflect the bonus theme. Other tasks may have nothing to do with either of these themes, they’re just fun ideas for unique reading challenges.
Feel free to post as many ideas as you can come up with. Don't worry about repeating what another player might have already suggested. The more ideas, the better!
The moderators will draw from these ideas as well as their own to create the 5, 10, and 15 point tasks. This thread will be open for ideas until May 17. Summer tasks will begin to be posted on May 19. We look forward to seeing what you come up with!
